The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

He must have offered me something stupid low on a bike once and I blocked him then lol. Someone offer him $15 and half a chicken sandwich and tell him to kiss my ass :))
I prob have half of Marketplace users on block by now. Used to just delete messages but now when someone is annoying or asks a ton of stupid questions just to disappear or not bother to show up I block them so it doesn't happen again.

I love it when guys want to trade piece of junk old cars and then claim I can still make more money than my bike is worth….

Todays example … ‘wanna trade for a 2010 KIA RIO and then you can sell it and make more money on top?’

How generous of them.

Watches, sea doos, old Mercedes E500, and X3 and an X5 so far on offer…

Well at least you're getting attention. Maybe that means a real buyer will come along.

Sorry if this feedback is harsh, but your ad isn't helping you:

Your ad doesn't state "no trades", so it's not surprising you have a bunch of tools replying to it.

How many cc's is your bike?

Is your mustang seat very comfortable for longer rides?

Is that a stock exhaust? Does it sound nice?

Is the windshield easy to remove if a buyer likes the naked look?

Your primary pic is a weird pic of your dash. You have already stated the mileage, so that dash pic offers no value other than to show me that I'm going to be irritated every time I look at that dash and see those damn cables running across it.. If that's the stock look of a Ducati Scrambler wtf were they thinking?

Your tires have stones or salt on them in the pics. Clean your tires before taking pics. Or better still, just mention new tires xx km ago and don't take pics of your tire tread - they offer no value.

The pic of the right side of your bike has half the front wheel and right handlebar out of frame.

Almost all your pics have very dark shadows around your bike, of houses in the background, both of which detract from the subject itself.
And your personal shadow is in the frame of two of your pics.

Overall your pictures still suck and don't make sense or have distracting elements to them. Writing a good ad isn't difficult if you put a little more thought and effort into it. I put more effort into this feedback than you put into the ad for your bike. Go ride to Riverwood Conservancy up the street and take some nicer pics of your bike there - that's a pretty beautiful spot and just 2 minutes from you.

... at least for those questions.

The "Icon" model by definition is an 800. If the person looking at the ad doesn't know this or can't do a quick search to find out, how serious can they be and are they worth the time to educate? I cater my ads to people who know what they're looking for and have already narrowed it down to my model.

Seat comfort is completely subjective. A better questions is whether the original seat is included/available.

In the absence of indicating an aftermarket exhaust (especially after the laundry list of other aftermarket parts), it's fair to assume it's stock.

And as to the ease of windshield removal, I wouldn't normally explain that in an ad either, but this may be a valid question to expect, although the answer is "it depends" (on your ability to wireld a screwdriver. To poke fun at @hymnz, that's like asking how easy it is to change the light bulb...😅

Totally serious.
Even if I'm giving something away for free, I won't limit the details in an ad so that the seller needs to look something up. Seriously - make it easy for the seller, don't add work - this is a basic tenet of merchandising or selling.

I saw other Icon's for sale and that exhaust didn't look the same compared to the other ones, which is why I asked. It almost looked like a Leo Vince, but the pictures are hard to tell.

I saw another ad where the seller said the windshield and mounts could be removed in seconds. I've had a bike that it would take me 10 minutes to remove the windshield, because of the mounting hardware and adjustable brackets.

Seat comfort is subjective, but he's ridden that bike up to Barry's Bay without problems - sounds like an easy thing to upsell.

It's never taken me longer than a week to sell a bike, because all the quick and easy questions a buyer has are in the ad. I'm upselling the bike with enthusiasm to sell it faster.

Agree to disagree I guess.

I get what you're saying about making the ad easy for the buyer, but you can't anticipate every question. Someone always comes up with something new. However, what I do is add the answer to common questions back into my ad as they get asked. But at some point, you either run out of space, or get into information overload that turns some buyers off - or they just don't read it all anyways.

@shanekingsley
How much do you charge to write up an ad for a bike I'm trying to sell?

I can provide the bike as the subject for pictures.

Asking for a friend. :p

No charge for anyone that I've ridden with:)
