The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

Not a fan of the model but damn that's a good looking bike.

what would be a fair price for this ? i don't know much about the extra parts.
Firstly, that is one very clean bike with some seriously good suspension upgrades. The bags are a nice touch, not overly cheap to buy separately.
If I was looking for an sv, I'd easily come pretty close to $4000 for this particular one. I like!
Edit: I did have an sv650, mostly stock. Really liked that bike and the one real fault was the suspension which honestly was expected as its an entry level bike built to a price. This owner has fixed the one real shortcoming of that bike in spectacular style.

I do not think it will last long. clearly the guy is into bikes- tasteful mods, the extras, just feels like a good owner, and only 17000kms. and the suspension is race worthy. I could see someone paying 4 large...and being happy.

I think it's a brilliant bike ...however are you going to get the advantage of that suspension?
Otherwise they are durable popular machines which some find uncomfortable ( my son did ) for doing distance.

So if you want to ride Quebec, PA or Adirondacks where the suspension advantage will really show, will the benefit outweigh the seating position.
But look, lots do distance on the SV and certainly that bike will hold value for a bit. Just a treat.

Wicked upgrade list and the bags are a nice addition to get where the good roads are.

Upgrades include Traxxion dynamic fork upgrade including springs and gold valve emulators, Penske double adjustable rear shock absorber, Renthal ultra low handle bar, Yoshimura RS-3 carbon exhaust, Evo fender eliminator, adjustable clutch and brake levers, lane splitter mirrors, frame sliders and tank grips.

Also included: Cortech tank bag and rear seat bag, front and rear stands as well as stock parts

Is something with ABS and bit newer a better choice.? There are soooo many decent bikes out there between $4-$5k as there are some very good factory deals on.

I found the s model uncomfortable, not a fan of clip ons for road riding. The naked is quite upright and comfortable. And yes, I would definitely use the new suspension on that bike.

I highly doubt anyone will pay $4,000 for a 11 year old SV, no matter how good the suspension is.
You can easily find a nice super sport from that era for this kind of money.
I'd pay $3,500 max for it.

that would be a very favourable price for the right person imo. however, not everyone wants or needs high end suspension; but for the right enthusiast ...
as for riding position mentioned by others; the beauty is you can pick and choose whatever handlebar bend suits you and bolt on.

I must say it would be great to have someone like you tag along on a potential buy...I could see you softening up the seller with your straight up attitude for a reasonable deal.

so mr traitor, its only worth what someone will offer...what is it worth to you?

i was thinking around 3 to 3.5 as well (the seller is very nice and price can be negotiate) , but i have decided to pass on this one and get something more recent 2015 and up

Don't get set on a year as there are model categories so that say the 2016-2018 CB500x are a nice jump up from 2015 version. Sometimes a year makes a difference, sometimes none at all.

Some machines vary little from year to year ....KLR650s were the same machine for 20 years.

2008/2009 CBF1000 versus the Gen 2 2010 to current quite different. The devil is in the details.

Oh jeeez i wish Speedway were here for this.

Might be a good deal
2005 SV1000S - Located in Montreal $2000 USD to a trooper

V-twin sport bike
If you are in Quebec, it is classified as standard with the SAAQ so it's like half the cost of a sport class liter bike to register.
Michelin Pilot Road 4 Tires, front 75% rear 50%
Rear hugger fender
530 X-Ring Chain and sprockets last year (~8,000 km on them) Always lubed at 500km intervals
Power Commander
Yoshimura Carbon Fiber bolt on exhaust, cut down and sounds incredible
Renthal tapered bars (original clip on bars included)
Lowered foot pegs (original pegs included)
One leaky fork seal
The title is rebuilt but clean and on the road. The rebuild was from a couple owner's ago, and was written off for plastics damage that was all replaced.

Absolutely. Japanese designers are a curious bunch. They can come up with some really great visual designs (even when hindered by price-points). Then, they forget themselves and hand us the Gladius. The newer SV is a step in the right direction, but it remains less coherent than the 1st/2nd gen models.
