I want to see a three way with a panda a polar and a grizzly (throw in a couple koalas as fluffers!)

Pandas are mega chick magnets.

I for one, actually am excited. I would plan a trip to see them.

maybe if it did cool tricks. but its just a panda.

I love going to the zoo. My faves are the Australasia exhibit and the African Rainforrest.

Are they really going to break even and then sum?
$800,000 just to upgrade the pen
$1,000,000 x5 to rent per year
$200,000 x5 food per year
+$200,000 if a cub is born.
So in 5 years they think they can make at least 7 mill on Pandas?

Have you seen the cost of admission to the zoo these days? ;)

I've never been to the zoo on a weekday, but go on a weekend -- especially a sunny day -- and there is one hell of a lot of people there... all at $20/person and $11/kid.

I think the zoo is pretty good value -- essentially the same price as a bike show or auto show. Last time I was there I spent about 5 or 6 hours wandering around. It's a good way to spend a day with a son/daughter/nephew/niece and teach them something while you're at it.

Still remember going to the zoo as a kid for a class trip and at the monkey exhibit, one of the monkeys peed through the cage at one classmate. I've been mindful of my distance ever since then each time I visit.

Definitely not cheap but any time I've been it's with friends and their kids and they love it. Being a little into photography it's a great opportunity for some photos you wouldn't normally get to take.

I agree, not great photography but great practice. I never realized how hard it was to get the eyes sharp and the end of the nose. Much easier to do when you don't have to find them first.

I've never been to the Toronto zoo and I've lived in the GTA for 20 years

Wouldn't go...it's ****ing cruel.

Safari parks with massive enclosures aren't too bad as long as the animals aren't totally out of their climate comfort zone but zoos are just sad ****ing places filled with sad ****ing animals.

$800,000 pen
$200,000 food

That's quite a luxury. In the wild they have to fight for their life everyday & kill their own food. A trade off i suppose
