The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

I will be riding this Sunday (May 31)morning, leaving from Cambridge Tim Hortons (holiday Inn drive).
Heading to the Campbellville meet, than riding for 3-4 hours around the Burlington, waterdown and hammer/Dundas area (140-170 kms) lots of twisty riding.
Anyone is welcome (not recommended for cruising bikes- unless your super skillful)
Meeting 9:30 leaving at 10am.
Let me know if you are interested.
Rob

If people don't stop organizing group rides and meets, we are never going to come out of lock down.

Apologies to Vicouswheels for locking the thread temporarily. My intentions were good in my mind. Ride safe. Ric.

Hi Ric, no worries.
I do agree with you, about irresponsible meets, ( park in Toronto was a great example)
I have gone out on rides with 3-5 people. We maintain 6 ft or more spacing in the empty parts of the parking lots.
I sure do not want to be part of the second wave, but unfortunately Canadian summers are short and insurance fees are 12 months.
12 months of riding in 6 months lol.

Rob

... Canadian summers are short and insurance fees are 12 months...

Yes and no.. insurance rates are bell curved. Instead of changing your rate every month, they have you pay the same amount every month.
i.e. June, July and August use about 18% of your insurance premium PER MONTH. If you look at December, January, February, you use about 2% of your premium per month. So, if you think you can ride for 3 months in mid summer and think you'll only pay 1/12 premium per month, you're wrong. Instead of 3/12 or 25%, you've used 56%... if you cancel at end of August, the company will send you a bill for the remaining 31% you owe.

Note - numbers and percentages are for illustrative purposes only. For correct numbers, call your broker.

Hahaha I see your numbers, compared to our southern neighbours, (I have customers in Texas, Arizona,etc...) That have 3 motorcycles with full coverage and with 2 million coverage and pay annually $500 for all three bikes, I was just stating " I'm trying to get my money's worth for our Canadian riding season lol"
I remember the days you could insure your bike for only 6 months, yes I'm a little old.

Rob

Going for a ride today, Cambridge, Campbellville, waterdown, etc... 150 kms.
Losing faith in this forum.
Rob

Seems like organizing rides has moved to FB groups, or people who have met up from previous posted rides are starting text and/or WhatsApp groups.
If you want to try and organize a ride, post it up. I’m usually riding most days and I know a few other people are too. But I can’t join you if I don’t know about it.

Today's plans were cut short by the weather radar (hasn't actually started raining here yet, although it looks threatening).

Was a great ride, Hockley, Terra Nova then Superburger for lunch. Bit windy on the way back but otherwise, perfect weather.
Looking forward to Ganaraska on Sunday :)
