The Motorcycle Wave...Are there rules?

Hi All,
I've only been riding since the first of March of this year with about 800km under my belt. I wave at all riders at anytime without fail unless I'm going through the gears and using the clutch lever.

Why don't all riders wave?? Is it about the bike? Is it about new and old? Is it about Sport and Harley...just curious as I feel like an a** as maybe there are rules that I'm not aware of.

What are the rules?

Thanks

Rules:

1) Don't do the straight arm Nazi salute. This upsets Jewish riders.
2) Refrain from the one finger (middle) salute. This will prompt full-on goatee wearing chain drive using MMA champions to exert their manhood all over you after threatening to involve their crew.
3) Use both arms and flap like a bird when waving at motorcycle cops. This earns their respect.
4) Or just wave normally like I do, and keep thinking that it's idiotic to wave at random mtorcyclists as though you share some special bond.

Hurray! Riding season is officially here with the first wave thread!

1. sometimes I am not looking at you
2. sometimes my hands are busy
3. I'm waving on the inside
4. I'm in a bad mood and don't like you at the moment, because your all happy and waving all the time. ;)

Its a wave how can there be rules.

I am going to be creative in my wave post comments from hear on.

The wave is a thing of respect. That's all.
There are no real rules. You're recognizing another person who shares your interest (bikes) and basically saying "right on, we're out here".
Ive only been riding for 30 years, and this has been going on since I can remember.
Some don't wave because they're busy... shifting etc, some don't wave because honestly if you pass 15 bikes under a few minutes you just get tired of waving.
Some don't because they just don't do that thing or it's the big bike syndrome as the little scooter whizzes past.
Who knows.
1% club members don't because they're too cool to identify with non club members - don't worry about them.
Just do it if you want and don't take offence if they don't wave back.
I have the big dog bike and I still wave to the little crotch rockets when I can out of respect and I know why they're waving, for a sense of belonging. So I try, but some just don't. Okay? So... ride on and enjoy this season.

LOL,, I love your respect,,, lol "the little crotch rockets" ... giggle
and,, I guess it depends on what you're riding... I had a full patch "almost" wave once.. then he actually said NICE RIDE! as he passed... then he saw I was turning off the road, so he turned around and came by,, he admitted he didn't like waving at suzuki savage riders... lol.. but my BSA low rider chopper interested him!
I had a LOT of neighbors quiz me ... what was I doing with that choice member in my driveway??

I am already "waved out" for the year! Man,, I have never seen this many riders around my place! oh except port dover time of year

well played sir! I also said your instead of you're. ;)

LOL. I missed that one. I can't wait for you to crucify me when you spot a mistake. :)

Sport bikes wave at absolutely everyone.
Cruisers wave at other cruisers and sometimes sport bikes.
Harley's don't wave at anyone.
