This.

Also, think about how many Ragu's we have running around.. and the corrupt billing cycle across the entire supply chain for treatment.

For those that don't know about Ragu (who was also a rider).

Oke but given what Delboy posted, where is his $1100 going? Even if the canadian ins companies wanted to make 50% more than the cali ones do his rate should be $441.

I think your oversimplifying it. Your not factoring in things like taxes, regulation and hedging requirements, payments to the shared non insured driver fund and other expenses that will differ from region.

Not saying our prices are reasonable just that it's not as simple as you are trying to make it sound.

Do you by any chance work for an insurance company?

Not an auto insurer. But look I'm not saying insurance rates are fair here they most certainly are not. I'm just saying there are costs to doing business. Another contributing factors is the silly way that financial analysts rate stocks and of course the absolute lack of competition in the auto insurance (even worse in the motorcycle segment) that keeps cost high.

The problem is that there are too many cars on the road now a days, compared to back then. :sad11:

I get most things are more expensive in Canada, but what in the world could contribute to 3.74 higher rate here for half a season? Don't forget Delboy posted some insurance costs that are way higher in the US. They also have lots of litigation.

California has way lower basic minimum's so they have less overall liability. Sounds like Delboys Friend smartly took some of the optional extra coverage that is way more affordable due to the lower overall liabilities the insurance companies have. There is also a more competition in that segment state side.

Not sure what the minimum has to do with him having 8mil in liability and lots of other perks. Surely the insurance companies are not selling anyone 8mil in liability at a possible loss. Plus their minimum insurance is way cheaper then wat delboy pays.

Anyways since I am FORCED to purchase ins there should be a lot more transparency.

THIS!!!

It's one thing to have high costs, and there for charge high premiums. It's another entirely to have a ****ing black box about it all.

They aren't selling it at a loss unless of course they need to pay out. It's a only a potential liability and with the majority of others having a much lower liability it balances out when you hedge it with investments that's how insuring risk works.

I can't disagree with the need for transparency as well as more competition and regulatory oversight tbh it's a mess needs to be overhauled.

This is why I don't like Canada. We get screwed and treated like idiots. In the US, they would be up in arms and blowing up insurance companies if this happened.

Oke, looks like car ins is quite high in the US. I pay 63 a month on my audi 90. Can't complain.

Maybe motorcycle ins is cheaper in the US because it's an add on to car insurance. It's kind of ridiculous you have to pay full insurance for every vehicle you own when you can only use one at a time. Especially sucks for people that have a winter and summer car.
