Why did the person with the camera go?!? They should have waited for the next light.

No dashcam footage but I had to drive through Brampton yesterday. I had to stop at roughly a dozen red lights, at 11 of the 12 people ran the red (mostly left turners that kept entering until after it went green in the other direction). I see why toronto decided to put in red light cameras, they probably generate as much money as quantitative easing.

Brampton has a ton or red light cameras too. Doesn't seem to matter.

Not a driver, but people wonder why so many pedestrians are killed in Toronto? This was just before 6:00am yesterday morning.

If plates can be seen in the video, it should be forwarded to the police. It's like a red-light camera. Regardless of the driver, the owner gets the fine based on the video/photo proof the car went through. It would be a good precedent to be set using third-party video to capture HTA offenses.

I am not saying the drivers in the above situation were correct, but the way some busses operate would easily drive people to it. My guess is the law requires them to have the stop sign out when making a pickup, regardless of how low that pickup takes.

There is a home near my house that is used to care for people with major physical difficulties (think strapped into powered wheelchairs and unable to control it themselves). When the bus comes to pick up these people it stops (with the door on the same side of the street as the house), puts out the stop sign and then loads the people. It takes 7 to 8 minutes before the driver gets back in their seat and pulls in the stop sign. That is ridiculous. In this case, nobody is crossing the road and nobody is going to run out into traffic. Everybody knows the situation and some people drive past the bus because they don't want to wait 7 minutes to pass what is essentially a parked car.

How many of the drivers in the video do you think "knows the situation"?

Even in the case of the 7 minute stop, is it worth being wrong about your judgment of the bus driver's actions, if it costs a life?

We had a thread a while back about stopping for funeral processions out of respect. I'm curious if you find it more respectful to stop for 7 minutes for someone who's already dead than it is to stop for 7 minutes for someone you might otherwise kill?
