So Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at the Oscars.

Smiths' wife has an autoimmune condition that causes her hair to fall out. She opts to get a buzz cut.

Rock makes a comment about a remake of G.I.Jane where Demi Moore wears a buzz cut.

Smith's wife does a eye roll and Will Smith seems momentarily amused but then goes on stage and smacks Rock.

It's good that Smith defended his wife's honour but by doing so the questionable comment got far more air time that it would have lt otherwise.

The comedian's challenge is that it is no longer OK to make fun of gays, minorities, blondes, women drivers, religious types and other standard targets. Other than politicians there are few legit targets. It seems that politically correct jokes can only be told about politics.

If you're going to get into this, then you have to ask yourself:

How can someone assault another in a heavy security location, in front of millions, and not be arrested.

If you're flying off the handle and out of control in public, are you doing worse in private?

says who lol

nuerotic hollywood actors are hardly a litmus test for comedy, society or anything for that matter.

there are PLENTY of comedians pushing the envelope everyday

****, i've written hundreds of jokes over the course of the lockdowns I cant wait to try out.
Think im wild on gtam? wait till ya hear me near a mic.

I don’t generally follow the Hollywood types I just don’t care. Your job is to entertain me not set my moral compass. If you’re funny I will laugh either with you or at you 🤷‍♂️
As for Will Smith, he’s a great actor and a talented man. But from what I’ve seen his man hood has been stripped down and beaten by that utter demon of a woman. She cheated on him with her sons friend and then in a public interview she blamed him for not being man enough and turned their marriage into a polyamorous relationship. I’ve not watched that whole interview partially because it’s uncomfortable to watch his pain, partially because I don’t care. Apparently he has constantly had to live up to and be compared to Tu Pac’s ghost, her former BF. Will is trying to live his best Thug Life. What a mess he really needs to get out and go live with Auntie and Uncle in Belair.
As for Chris rock
He’s funny ish, and he handled the situation like a seasoned professional.
For a split second Rock started to say something and then reins himself in.
I bet he was about to unleash an absolute hell fire of verbal abuse on Will Smith.
And that would have been funny.
I don’t think the joke was that good or offensive to be honest.
when Asked about the incident Ricky Gervais said “I wouldn’t of made fun of her hair but I sure as hell would have made a joke about her boy toy.“ Lol that would have gotten some attention.

The more I read about the Smiths...the more I can't stand that family. That woman is a horrible human being that happened to catch the eye of a star and somehow believes she is now one also.

As for the slap....sure, it's hard to keep your composure when someone you care for is being laughed at (jokes or not). But you can see that Will found it funny...until his wife didn't.

I'm sure that most people here would defend their spouse and children / family / friends either with physical force or not, that depends on the threat I guess.

A joke like that? Had a friend tell my wife that she looks 'ridiculously fat' when my wife was 10 months pregnant with my son. While I didn't react physically to the joke, I made sure said friend was VERY clear on where we stand. And to this day (up on 5 years now) we're still fairly distant to one another. I'm all for jokes, but not when the person I love is crying the entire way home.

Bob and weave > left counter = totally different story.
As you can see a bit of boxing skills would not hurt in this current society 😂

Now, what if this joke was made by Jason Mamoa or The Rock - would WS jump on one of those giants, is the question I'd like to know...

Tbh, not sure what honour is remaining after she slept with their son's friend at the time...

And then he releases a song called entanglement lmao:

Yeah trying to make sense of Hollywood's ethics and moral stances isn't worth it. There clearly is a double standard and people protecting their interests turning a blind eye to stuff, or have it media squashed, or keep it silent, or have enough money and connections to get around legal issues us mortals would have to deal with. It's a funny industry and it's amazing how being so attached to the media that very little insider media knowledge is known about certain activities within Hollywood, unless it is after the fact, and people have moved on. Take for instance Bruce Willis condition, apparently is was known for several years but nobody reported on it, somehow.

As for Smith, if he plays his cards right, keeps his head down, shuts his mouth, and lays low, I'm sure he will be back in a few years and eveyone will have moved on. Similar to how Mel Gibson career went after the stuff he pulled. Let's face it these are superficial people we don't really like them for their brains, and the industry uses that attention to keep you invested in the entertainment. There entertainer's, nothing more, let's not inflate them anymore then necessary.

Yeah, on that note - I recall a few years back some old lady-actress at Oscars said that "Martial Arts are not Art" and some other b/s about MMA in general. Well now when they resolving their differences with on-stage assaults - they might as well start learning those "Martial Not-Arts" to defend one-selves 😂

Watching all the videos including cell phones from different angles....

Chris Rock tells the joke.
Will Smith is actually laughing at the joke, Jada rolls her eyes.
Will then walks up and slaps Chris, and then proceeds to literally strut back to his seat.
Jada is now laughing.
Will starts chirping about keeping his expletive "wife's" name out of your mouth.
Then some stuff noted below about removal...
He gets his Oscar and apologizes to everyone except Rock.

While the joke was in bad taste (but not really all that bad and Rock claims he did not know why she had a buzcut), Chris Rock handled it all post slap like a true professional IMO. When I saw it live I thought it was a put on (but I could not hear Smith's chirping) and my first thought was all these fake beefs are played out, pretty sure it is not the case now.

The producers claim they asked Smith to leave and he refused. Police offered to arrest him and remove him and Rock said no to arrest. He should have been removed one way or another. They could have just gone to a prolonged commercial break until he was removed although cell phone video would have been all over the place.

Their so called marriage is an emasculating embarrassment to Will Smith, or it should be. Maybe that is part of the reason for his actions, but also no excuse. IMO his reaction is also very sexist, he needs to use violence to protect his wife from words??? I am sure she can defend herself with her own words., is she a wilting flower?...no high road for him there either.

Smith has now preemptively resigned from the academy taking away the one measured repercussion they could have handed out IMO. I would say take away the Oscar but they have let child-molesters keep theirs...so that is likely off the table.

It was a slap , not even a punch. John Wayne or Clint Eastwood and possibly MnM would have decked him . That was the saddest, a biotch slap. Followed by a swagger, you dont get to swagger after a pussy move like that, you ask your Missus for keys to the car and take your sorry ass home.

Smith is apparently worth six times that of Jada. Maybe a poorly written prenup?

Sticking with celebrities, is anyone watching the Depp / Heard gong show?

My YouTube algorithm has Depp ahead on points.
Not really following but see the headlines. WTF doesn't even begin to capture that train wreck. Having two professional actors testifying probably doesn't help anything either. Having a forensic psychologist deliver their assessment in open court was an interesting show. If the libel trial for something she said that just implied him is this ugly I can only imagine the crap that came out during their divorce proceedings.

Some stuff reminds me of the trucker protest and blowing numbers out of proportion.
