Terrorist attacks in Norway

So let me see if I get this straight...

The gist of this thread is that an act of violence like the world has seen a thousand times before and will continue to experience for all of eternity, is being used to criticize the immigration policy of one nation who's immigration policy is very much the same as in dozens of other Western nations, even though the guy who committed the offenses wasn't an immigrant, while in the same breath it's being used to decry the many very real problems in Islam these days, even though this particular incident had nothing to do with Islam.

Oh and I forgot... let's bomb 'em all to smithereens! Because that will fix the problem, it will not make it worse, and it would accurately represent the more virtuous and righteous world that we claim to have invented for ourselves.

Of all the countries in the world, I would not have expected something like this to happen in Norway.

We often think the USA is the only country in the world that is gun crazy but IIRC Finland has some gun fetishes as well. I'm not sure of Norway's gun situation and it's next door.

It's not so much that. Norway is culturally a very socialist, and very rich (due to resources) country. It always ranks high on those best countries to live lists. But I guess there will always be someone that does not believe in the majority's ideology. Apparently, a 'right wing' suspect was charged.

Scandinavia is not immune to acts of terrorism.. whether foreign or domestic. Take the assassination of the Swedish Prime Minister Olaf Palme several years ago. Even Canada is not immune to it back 20 years ago Ottawa had a slew of bombings against Armenian diplomats a few were killed or seriously wounded. How about the Biker wars in Montreal. All terrorist acts none better than the rest. The victims families are the ones who have to pick up the pieces.

Absolutely disgusting actions. From his manifesto it seems he has gotten the desired infamous effect but instead people now are weary of right leaning, Christian people instead of embracing them.

As a Norwegian friend of mine put it, "Relative to population size, the terror attack on Norway is the equivalent of 5440 Americans being killed. This is the most significant lone shooter massacre in modern times. A tragedy."
