Temporary HOV lanes

How can they pass a law and force an hov lane on the citizens that paid for the highway? Aren't traffic laws meant to be for safety and road control? How has nothing to do with safety...There must be some loop hole here? This delay is going to cost me a lot of money? Is the government going to pay for that??

Can we sign a petition and do a class action suit for time and money lost?

I just don't understand who's bright idea it was to spread out the games all over the GTA... Why not just have it in one central area. For example do we really need HOV lanes for a few baseball games being played in Ajax? They are going to inconvienience over 1 million drivers of so that a few hundred can go watch baseball? Its going to be like having to put up with an accident on the 401 every day for 2 months throughout the entire strech of the 401 from 404 to Salem.

Although I sympathize with people complaining about the traffic here, It makes me laugh too.. Since I came here people talk about Toronto being "world class" etc etc which always makes me cringe. The lack of decent transit of options across the GTA, the lack of urban planning (downtown and in the burbs) and the me first attitudes and entitlement shown by many residents let me to believe that "you reap what you so". GTA residents have allowed this to happen by allowing the developers create large areas of cookie cutter residential areas, encouraging the use of the motorcar etc.
The other funny thing about these games is most of the world won't be watching... These are like the opposite version of the British Commonwealth Games. The good thing about these games is that we've hopefully invested more into facilities and infrastructure that will be used after the games are gone. Ie. The Scarborough aquatic centre.

You want to work from 7 to 4? One more person and we're HOV ready. I'm thinking of bringing baby to work lol. My boss will be gone on holiday so maybe I can let him cry and sleep in his office all day. Is that unethical or just a byproduct of government meddling?
