Temporary HOV lanes

Didn't they only sell 30% of tickets? Who's going to these games?

What a waste.
The way they sold tickets was beyond completely stupid. I tried to get tickets to watch the trap shooting competition and it wouldn't let me because as it would seem they randomly released blocks of tickets to events to make it "fair".. UhhhH sorry but first come first serve. I wasn't playing that game so screw it.

ahhaha its almost like you quoted my text a little bit higher up. But today's fakked up traffic was brought to you by Honda. Honda Indy to be specific.
I almost considered following the other rider who was lane splitting on lakeshore...

On the other hand HOV lanes only start June 29th. So i don't know how much it's going to affect queensway/gardiner/lakeshore corridors. Especially in the latter part of the restriction that requires only 2+ people per vehicle to qualify

Haha lets see if we saw the same guy. Im not exactly sure what he was riding as i only caught a glance but it was a black dual sport whatever it was and he was wearing a black helmet?

I was in my car and so ****** why i didnt ride lol Had to take the car for emission test so yeah :|

heheh - just saw 1 lane blocked on University to Bloor st and I think its the same back down young street for the Scotiabank Rat Race Run this evening. Traffic is rammed. just wait until the PanAm games. BTW - Are the inner city HOV lanes affected or is it the highway ones?

Don't like them.. they will cause problems , I assure u!

I'm north of the city and will have pan am accred so assume I will be able to use the HOV lane if I choose to ride in. With the supposed increased enforcement however I can only imagine how many times I'd get stopped. For me it's a ride in with potential constant hassle or look at the GO schedules......it ain't gonna be pretty for traffic I'm sure.

Like most traffic laws in Ontario, the HOV lane rules will be generally ignored. The cops won't be pulling anyone over for cheating either.

I dont know if it was him that day (cause he was on the other side of smaller transport trucks so i didnt see him..just saw the shadow and heard his exhaust)

BUT i saw that dual sport guy lane split...actually it wasnt lane split as he went in between two opposite direction lanes, right in the centre of the street where there was just one solid yellow line... oh well.
Who's the dumb one, the one who gets there faster (him) or the one who sits in traffic abiding to the law (me)

The dumb one is the person who: 1) puts himself in greater danger (exposing himself to traffic in two directions in a lane position most motorists are not expecting a motorcycle to be) and 2) gives the cops an excuse to give him a ticket

LOL sure bud... Try driving on the 403 HOV lane in Mississauga. There is almost always an officer waiting to meet his quota.

They've already been doing a pre-games blitz on HOV lanes and issuing tickets.

Not on the in city ones for sure, Don Mills and Eglinton both full of single occupants yesterday.

I work in that area and in the 3 years I've been commuting I have yet to see them police the city HOV lanes. I've seen the odd OPP on the DVP near the end of the HOV lane but no more then maybe once a month.

Doubt it. They've already announced that it will be patrolled strictly and I expect it will be.

I've seen police enforcement of the HOV at Don Mills and Eglinton twice in 3 years commuting past there, once Thursday and once two years ago.

There was an unmarked car parked on the grassed area around the entrance to Celestica from eastbound Eglinton Thursday morning. I drove by on the motorcycle but couldn't see anyone outside of the car. There were at least 4 single occupant cars in front of me in the HOV lane and yet no response from this police. Go figure.

The municipal HOV lanes do not carry demerit points, they're just by-law tickets. Only HOV lanes on the King's Highways carry the points and higher fines.

The city HOV lanes, do not show up on your driver's abstract and won't affect your insurance. Generally, Toronto Police will not waste their time on non-HTA charges. It's the equivalent of a parking ticket, and drivers have excuses "well, I was going to make a right turn... and was looking for street X, and continued driving".

Of course, if you were dinged $35 every time you went down the city HOV lanes... that would be a deterrent as well. Similar to parking enforcement.

I've used the 404 HOV lanes in the past, and I've only seen enforcement in the 404S to 401W collector tunnel; where drivers slow down for the tunnel curve, OPP & TPS wave drivers down by stepping out into the live lane.
