Temporarily - M1 not required for motorcycle M2 course

Whatever they are, one of the guys makes jewelery out of them when they break off.

Are we talking about drivetest centres being open for written tests? or road tests?
My son was able to pre-book his G road test but I can't seem to prebook my M2 test at any location.

were you able to book an m2 (m1 exit test)? ive been trying for a month now at metro east, their websitesays my license doesnt match their records when trying to book on their site, they never pick up the phone, and they arent book tests with their "inside visiting services" and my m1 expires next week. so frustrating

AFAIK, the moratorium on licenses (and plates) expiring still exists. By all means keep trying but I don't think you will become illegal next week.

I'm surprised there's anybody in Ontario at this point who's M1 has not expired . . . MTO is going to have to sort it out.
As of today on their website:
" We are extending the validity of government driver, vehicle and carrier products and services that expired on or after March 1, 2020. These will continue to remain valid and legal past the expiry until further notice. "
Keep practicing . . . ;)

My M exit test is supposed to be this Saturday :]

Weather says risk of strong thunderstorms + 28-30 degree weather ...

I actually did the MSF course thingy in the rain too. This is just freaking me out a little because I chose the date at random and it's like a omen telling me NO again. But I give the omen the finger ..

This will be fun :)

edit: I already emailed them asking what happens if it thunderstorms. Seems suicidal to go biking in a thunderstorm ????? Rain is "do-able" but a thunderstorm!?

edit 2:
"Is it safe to ride a motorcycle in a lightning storm? It is not safe to ride a motorcycle in a lightning storm. Since you are touching the vehicle, your head is considered the highest point of it which will increase your risk of a lightning strike. Though this is not a common occurrence, it has happened before and it is best to not risk riding in a lightning storm."

I was finally able to book an M2 road test at a drivetest centre.
Been checking every week and they simply weren't offering any time slots.
There aren't many available but you can now book in August (earliest I saw was the 13th).

a) actually I've had good luck with them on the phone
b) Enter your G (car) license's info/expiry, not your M1 expiry
c) as per my comment above, you can now book an M2 in August, although there aren't a lot of options

FWIW one of my best travelling memories was in Virginia, cloudy day we decided to go up a gorgeous twisty mountain access road. It started spitting. We pulled over and put rain gear on and after a short talk decided we should keep going. Literally 30 seconds up the road it was raining so heavily branches were coming down, visibility was zero ( my friend was out of sight and later told me a branch struck him in the head while he was riding ) and there was a river running down the road next to me. I was stopped by a tree that had come down and my friend was on the other side. We moved it and went back down the access road having to move another very large tree that fell behind us while car drivers watched - and also carefully blocked the road for us to make it safe while we cleared the way.
Funny, while we were putting our rain gear on a local invited us to wait it out on their porch. We ended up right back on that same porch soaking wet and thinking about how stupid we were not to follow their instincts in the first place. Fine lady was a retired opera singer who had traveled the world and was now running a quilting shop in her home town. "She knew the mountain". We talked with her an hour and the sun was out again.

What's the point of all this? Do your best to prepare. Then just go with it. It's all part of the adventure. By all means flip off the omen, and just focus and enjoy your test. It will be one of your memories.

My license expired yesterday, was due to get M by Aug 7. Are tests available to book yet? I have been looking at London area and nothing has been available for months. Any word of extension?? Cheers

There's an extension on now as far as I know, but there's also a backlog for testing.

For the M2X course here, not in the GTA, they're doing people who signed up in Jan/Feb for the first classes, but didn't get a chance due to COVID.
Many of the people left their deposit and got on the waiting list at that time. They're just starting through the waiting list now.
Also, this location only does ~four at a time, so four on a weekend and four during the week, if there's demand.

For DriveTest and locations in the GTA look at some of the above posts. It sounds like some, if not all, of the schools and the DriveTest centres have reopened and may be going through the same process.

I believe LC is running extra courses through the week in St Thomas whenever that are able to get instructors. Since many on the wait list will not be able to attend during the week you may be able to get in, or at another less preferred location. No you were not expected to get tested before your M1 expired. Nearly every student on the lot is showing up with an expired M1.

It is for my complete M. I have my M2, but did not have my M, and was planning to get it all done this summer. I assume I would have some form of extension as well then?? Thanks

Oops my bad, yes look on page one of this thread I posted a link to MTO extensions. They were open ended .... of course it will not stay that way.

4 people classes?

Sheesh. Did 20 at Shannonville last weekend.

20 M1X, 4 M2X.

I can't see how you'd easily get a group of 20 mixed skill M2X students on the street at once.
Do you test their competency before taking them on the big bad Streets of Shannoville?
Do you run them through Belleville and the 401 for the test or highway 2?

We used to sometimes do five, but you can't just pile them all into a van for the demo now.
