Tea is hotter than coffee

Yup another one. A woman in Winnipeg burned her leg with a cup of tea from Timmies. Let's see how Canada handles this. The US spilled coffee lady started out with a $5M settlement that, IIRC, got reduced by about 99 percent.

Good tea has to be hot to extract the flavours from the leaves. Driving and hot tea are not a good mix. Shaving with a straight razor while driving isn't a good idea either.

It's a simple problem for them to solve.
Provide a proper cup for hot items.
I don't think that is too much to ask.
Gas containers are designed to carry/store gasoline.

if its the winnipeg lady, she was in an accident which caused the tea to spill all over. I wish the media would print whole stories.

I think if the water is too hot, it will degrade the flavour of tea. As long as its not boiling. Can someone clarify?

But yeh, she's a moron. Millions of people shouldn't be inconvenienced because she's a moron

Tea should have boiling water...coffee has water a little cooler for maximum flavour extraction.

FYI the McDonald's case is also rarely reported with the whole story. They had been cited several times for coffee that was way too hot to serve. The woman burned had to have reconstructive surgery and spent a lot of time in the hospital getting skin grafts. There's always more to the story than meets the eye. ;)

The media doesn't care about the whole story or the truth, they simply want a headline that will sell the most papers.

This. McDonalds was aware that their coffee was waaaaaaayyyyy too hot. The lady needed a lot of surgery to get herself fixed. It's not so much of a "I've suffered a minor inconvenience and am going to sue now, lol" thing.

sigh.....its a hot beverage made with near boiling water with an "Caution HOT" idiot warning on the top....

Maybe instead of regulating the temperature to make her extra-large cup of green tea she should be campaigning for a safe transport regulation to make sure this obviously dangerous substance is transported safely. She obviously was transporting this dangerous good in an unsafe manner. Thgink of all the other coffee and tea drinkers that do the same EVERY MORNING!

Enforcement could be a new revenue stream for the police to do with their speed traps

If there was only some type of holding device for cups.....

As I always say, let nature sort itself out

Correct, boiling water actually scorches the tea in green tea, jasmine tea etc.

I've never heard you say that.

I wonder if that explains the lack of the highly touted benefits of the vert I have not experienced.

Thanks for clarifying. I only experienced it personally but never read anything about it

You know if she was using a reusable mug instead of the disposable cup the lid would most likely have stayed on in a "minor" collision and this wouldn't have happened. I drop mine and other then a bouncing on the ground and a small spill most the beverage stays inside.
