I haven't seen the StompGrips up close but it looks like they have nubs on the outside...
So every time your pants rub against them, they're making the material on your jeans/leathers weaker.
Tech Specs on the other side, is flat and has a rubber like texture, should not damage anything.

I've ridden nearly 1k km's this season wearing riding jeans with the techspec installed, hasn't left a mark.
