Tank Grips; your opinion

Hey everyone,

So what I want to know is:

Would you prefer to get stomp grips or tech specs for your bike. Or none at all. Tell me why

I'm looking at tech specs new c3 grips for my sv1000s. To help me keep planted in the twisties. Is it worth it for road riding? I get fairly aggressive in the twisties.

Any and all thoughts and experiences welcome!

I just ordered the tech specs. I always find myself sliding up the tank no matter how much I grip with my legs. I watched the sbtg review on stompgrip vs tech spec and thought the stomp might be alittle aggressive for street use with jeans, and the tech specs look alot more street friendly. I don't have any riding time with either one and really haven't seen anyone have them on their street bike, but I think I'll like them. Good luck

Last year I decided on "Tank Tredz"

all kinds of sticky - virtually invisible, had them for about a year now - still sticky like day 1.

I wish I would have seen those tank trendz before I ordered the tech specs! I like how their transparent , would look way cleaner on my white bike!!!

Just got some from a fellow on the svrider forum, hand cut great quality, took 11 days to get in the mail. Cost 25US$ no shipping. bighammer is his handle, or pm me I will pass you e-mail on to him if you like.

Is there an alternative way to order Tank Tredz besides the main website? The site seems outdated.

Is there anything that sews onto track leathers instead of sticking to the tank? Seems to me that would make more sense.

The inside of the legs (where i'd squeeze the tank) on my Arlen Ness suit is textile and I have the Tech Spec Snakeskin tank pads. It's the pads that are actually showing signs of wear, not my leathers. The only wear I can see on my suit is from crashing, and mostly from my left leg being dragged under the bike while crashing through Allen's at Shannonville. Oops.

I have the techspec snake skins and love them. They help quite a bit when hanging off and for hard braking. One nice thing about them that hasnt been mentioned in this thread yet is the ability to remove and reapply them to another bike if necessary. I was about iffy about how well they would stick, but it turned out perfect.

I have the tech specs as well. They work really well with jeans, but, for some reason, don't work that well when I put on my Joe Rocket textile pants. I'm gonna go ahead and blame the pants ;)

I have ridden a bike with Stomp Grip and absolutley hated it.

Although I haven't tried Tech spec, I like the look better and have heard good things. Just ordered some.

I ended up buying the snakeskin techspecs too. You won't regret it! No sign of wear on my jeans or riding suit.

With them I no longer slip around on my seat. It equates to more precise handling etc.

I will put them on my next bike(s) to say the least!

I got the Tech Specs (Snake Skin). They do a great job... But I'll admit. The Tank Tredz look a lot nicer.

Which is why I want to try the Tank Tredz... the clear looks alot better on some bikes. Tech Specs doesn't come in clear option does it?

This thread got me interested in tank grips for my bike. Mind you, it's not a modern sports bike so the Tank Tredz currently available won't precisely match my tank. I noticed that the same Tank Tredz products are offered on the GeckoStrips web site as well; and a couple for less than half price over the same advertized on Tank Tredz site. This might interest those who are willing to compromise slightly on design for price, like me. Afterall, they are clear and shape may not be a large esthetic factor for some.

how much is shipping on this site?

$21.00. Ouch! But I did find another discount. Use the coupon code "CRACKBERRY" and you get an additional 25% off the clearance price. With shipping, that put's it back to the region of list price for the same product on the Tank Tredz site. So, it still might be worthwhile.
