Taking off fairings for oil change

Can someone please make a video with an 06/07 GSXR 600. I wanna see how you guys do it without removing the fairings. Also i used my hands to put the filter on, people are saying I shouldn't make it too tight. I put it in tight enough that to take it off you gotta use all ur grip to take it off, then loosen with your fingers. I used only my hands to take the filter off and put the new one on.

Next time you need your oil changed, you're more than welcome to swing by my workplace and we can go through it.

It's easy - 2 minute job. No need to remove, or loosen any plastics at all.
A 'cup' style filter wrench is key - place it on by hand - then connect ratchet. Once you get it snug, detach ratchet from cup wrench - remove one at a time. Done.

I'd like to see that too. My bikes are naked for the winter but looking at the location of the filter it looks like a PITA do try to get to the filter without taking the fairings off.

Never having actually owned a GSX-R 600, I'm quite sure it's the same plastics that are on a GSX-R 750. I had 3 of them - 1 '06 and 2 '08's. I changed the oil & filter every 2500 - 3000 kms (which was usually weekly / bi-weekly) and never took them off once.
I'd be glad to show anyone how I did it.
Now - if anyone comes up with a method to swap the oil filter on a Busa without removing the r/s plastic, please let me know.

You spin the oil filters on the same way as any vehicle using these types of oil filters. With the amount of stripped oil pan threads out there I figured this had to be clearly stated before someone puts a wrench on their filter and strips that too.

If I recall correctly ..torque spec for a honda 929 filter is 20 ft lbs .. it is not a lot but bit more then 1/2 turn and more that a lot of people can get just their hand.. they will leak if not tightened properly.. just saying ..

Sure, I've never checked a torque spec on an oil filter or had one leak, car, bike, or truck. Wrench away.

The 600 is no different. My fairings stay on when doing oil changes on my 600.

This is something I'd like to see as well, last oil change I did use a new filter which has a socket attachment I can use to remove it so that may make unscrewing it easier...

Still though unless I cover the plastics with tin foil or some other material, oil is going to drip all over the fairings for sure...?
