Swarm of motorcyclezw spotted in gta

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

All I see is a bunch of young people out enjoying themselves on their bikes.

Oh PUH LEEZE.

"Enjoying themselves" can be done in lots of other ways than endangering the general public by speeding, intimidating other motorists, blatantly blowing through red lights, doing wheelies and stoppies on public highways..shall I go on? Did you even watch the videos?

These are a bunch of inconsiderate dbags who have now put YOUR well being at risk every time you're on your bike simply because any member of the public who witnessed that, was stuck being an unwilling part of it, or saw it on TV or social media, now, to some extent, lumps YOU in with them. Next thing you know this is happening because every third motorist assumes you're a dbag too.

Get real and stop being an apologist for idiots on 2 wheels. It's also giving insurance companies yet even more reasons to justify jacking our rates. Remember that whole "we all get painted with the same brush" thing.

Re: Swarm of motorcycles spotted in gta

next spring there will be more tears and crying threads about how expensive sportbike insurance is. Connections will not be made. Entitlement will continue.

Maybe if insurance wasn't unattainable for the younger crowd that participate in these types of mobs they'd be less inclined to ride without plate or care... I dunno, just try to remember what it's like to be young; you're told you can't, but you're going to anyway. Maybe if they were able to ride a sporty bike with legitimate insurance they'd be less likely to act in a manner that would jeopardize that ability. Maybe the forced illegitimacy breeds further illegitimacy. Tougher penalties and impossible insurance is the norm now, but this trend is growing.. connection? Maybe, maybe not.. just a thought.

Makes me glad I ride a cruiser, because any member of the public who witnessed any of that dbaggery, or saw media coverage of it, well, public perception on sportbikes is now going to be at an all time low, and like it or not (sorry responsible sportbike guys)...you ARE going to be painted with the same brush.

Some sort of crackdown is going to happen if this sort of idiocy continues.

I'm not bothered in the slightest.. I'm in no contravention of the law with my bike or otherwise and I know enough about what is acceptable in a traffic stop to put any overzealous officer on the back foot. Plus facebook live

Re: Swarm of motorcycles spotted in gta

My worry would be watch there be some new law come into the fold that would ban formation riding/driving, effectively putting an end to any form of group riding in Ontario. Granted I can't see them putting it through, but if enough crap happens with sportbikes, Harleys and Dover, and the whole CSCC/North Face Rally type groups, who knows.

Not bothered by this either.. giant group rides are just a **** show regardless of crowd..

Meh driving is a privilege and riding is a luxury here in Canada. You gotta pay to play.
Start small 125/250 and work your insurance history up, or get an extra job to pay.
It's always someone else's fault they can't start riding on a 100+hp toy.

So we end up with a bunch of entitled kids and degenerates, who make the motorcycling community look bad.

The police will sort it out.

started at 27 myself.. 1 ticket and no accidents/claims. Cheapest quote was more than 3k for a 250 ninja. At 27 that was manageable so I paid; for a 19 year old who wants to look good for his lady friends, insurance he can't afford on a 250 may just be the temptation required to go buy a 600 and **** the system entirely... just think society constantly working against a subset of peoples desires can often have the reverse effect of that intended.. again just a thought

Right!?
Hell you want entitlement, watch "road captains" in a Harley train stop traffic. Less wheelies & stoppies with them though, and most are probably lawyers with wives that run political fundraisers inbetween Facebook school petitions. So that's okay.

I'm sure all the stopped traffic was speed dialing 911 "OMFG BIKERS GANGS ARE SWARMING ME, WHAT DO I DO", but that was pretty tame stuff. Hell I see Ebikers in Hamilton do dumber **** every day.

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

Well it appears all the frumpy old-before-their-time folks are up in harms again here.

Lol :D

Can't say I condone what these riders did but this place has really started giving off this "I have never broken any law, EVER..." type of vibe over the past few years. Indeed these guys broke the law, criticize them all you want because what they did was wrong... However, the way some of you chastise these riders is just hypocritical, especially since I've been here long enough to have read peoples stories from the "old times" or "old days" you're not all saints

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

You know what is going to happen now, right? Anybody with any taillights, turn signals and license plate holders that are not stock, or stock appearing will be stopped and ticketed. Aftermarket exhaust systems will be scrutinized. Most of this will be concentrated on "sport bikes", but that will be in the eye of the individual officer, especially in Peel, and we know how reasonable these guys are to begin with. It will be quietly done but lots and lots of tickets will be written and it will be up to those who receive them to fight them or not. It will not be fun. Ironically the cruiser/harley crowd will be mostly ignored. Actually since this crowd can't stop themselves from posting on youtube etc. the police will eventually track down and visit anybody they can dig out of the videos, and they'll figure out where they live, there are lots of shots of parking lots, gas stations etc. which all will have surveillance cameras. So once they identify the gas station as an example, they'll examine their cameras and see who's licence plate was there. Should be an interesting couple of weeks in the GTA.

Yup... These idiots just made it harder for those who ride Sports and Sport Touring bikes to run an aftermarket exhaust, do a nice tail tidy or other mods you might like to do. With all of the negative public reaction the Police are going to be encouraged by the City to get out there and do some enforcement. Who gets affected by this? You and me; that's who.

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

Well it appears all the frumpy old-before-their-time folks are up in harms again here. All I see is a bunch of young people out enjoying themselves on their bikes. Yes, they're lane splitting and a couple of them are doing wheelies. So what? It's not like this is new. In 1948 a similar posse invaded Hollister, California and the frumpy people called in the National Guard they were so scared.

The problem here is when people see that many bikers they feel intimidated. You can see the traffic stop cold and look. But was it really that bad? I don't think so. Just one guy trashed his bike (LOL @ the way the cheap plastic thing burned into practically nothing), big deal.

I think the prophets of disaster here need to stop having a nervous breakdown. There won't be any law changes because of this. If people start getting hurt we might see some action, but so far they're more a hazard to themselves and if they want to risk their lives that's their problem. The police are not babysitters.

You are way wrong on this one. Think of the idiots who were street racing years ago and took it to far. The over-reaction to that is HTA 172 which negatively affects all of us. These idiots make things worse for other riders.

172 was only one of many "Written by a 5yr old" bits of legislation that has passed, and it was only enacted as a quick way to suck ready cash for a bankrupt province. The pair of Civics crushed during McWynnty's ceremony were never clocked above the speed limit, and the Woodbridge "racers" never hit the truck that rolled over....it didn't matter who/what/where, 172 was being enacted. And they enjoyed a few good years of it being abused beyond the limit. (pizza at Stonewalls in Hamilton anyone? 172 kickbacks paid for it)

A bunch of riders, that everyday have to deal with your average dumbass 416 driver, enjoyed an afternoon of mob mentality by just RIDING. Which is the only way you can ride safely, and not worry about being screwed by the 1100 ways to get screwed on Ontario motorways on a bike. They weren't smashing mirrors, they weren't riding anymore aggressively than your average RUBR Harley parade. I'd be giggling if I was in a cage and them go by. But hey it's Ontario, and anything we can feel entitled to ***** about we'll beat like a dead horse....

Gawd visiting this site again makes me not homesick.

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

When you loan out your vehicle, that too is an action you should be held legally accountable for. A number of sections of the HTA already hold the owner responsible for various things even if they are not actually behind the wheel when an offence occurs.

That list of sections should be expanded so that an owner is responsible for defending against all moving violations even if they were not operating the vehicle at the time an offence occurred. The only out should be if someone else would step up and admit they were the operator at the time of offence.

hahaha...

agreed...

if this ride was such a massive threat to women , children, puppies and clean living , why didnt the popo simply scramble their aerial units, set up roadblocks and put an end to it ?

Spoiled entitled children looking for some attention. Sad pathetic spoiled entitled children looking for some attention because mommy and daddy are too busy. .

This sums it up nicely.

From a post above

I've already had questions at work about whether I was there and WTF were they thinking?

Way too much coverage and a Wynne government battling for approval? Some sort of crackdown is no doubt in the works.

Because the doosh bags would have run and accidents would happened. Cops were caught out and had no idea where these arse wipes were riding to. The best part is two of them took each other out! And not the rest of the traffic.
There was one cruiser style bike there.

Re: Swarm of motorcycles spotted in gta

Well, seems a lot of people
have video of these guys, and people on reddit recognized a few riders (pink bikes stick out) lol..

and at least one plate...

Oh, and they all rolled through a red light camera on Queensway. Those cams are actually video cameras.

Lucky no one was hurt. Lots of evidence for the cops to go on if they really needed to get someone

Good. Even if they only manage to nail 10 or 20 of these dbags it'll make the rest think twice about participating in this kind of crap in the future.

No, because 'it would never happen to them'...same reason why they will weave at 200+ in heavy traffic. Other people could crash, but not them.

Yup, no one else gets injured when people use the streets for stunting or as a personal racetrack...I mean, if **** goes wrong it is just a motorcycle...not like is it around 400 lbs of steel moving at 150-200+ km/h with no crumble zones to lower the kinetic energy it carries when it hits something or someone....
