SW Motech EVO tank bag

Hello everyone. I am wondering if anyone has the SW motech City, Trial, or engage evo tank bags and would be willing to meet up at a Tim Horton's for me to have a look at it. I would just like to see how they would fit on my bike before buying one from my local dealer. Or if you know any dealers/shops that carries one of these products then please let me know. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

I don't own that bag, but do own the following.

And they are top quality and show no sign of wear or fatigue. (been across the USA twice with them). So if you find the fitment good, you'll have one of the best products out there.

Good Luck!

Just FYI, SW Motech just released a new line of quick-lock tank bags called the PRO line.

It hasn't made it to North America yet, but I bought one from Europe and it has couple of new features over the EVO:

- magnetic guides that basically clicks the bag into place. You just place the bag in the vicinity of the tank ring horseshoe and the magnets guide it into place. Very slick.
- the base of the tank bag where it meets the horseshoe is adjustable and can slide back and forth so you can position the tank bag optimally so it's not too close to your body, or interfering with the bars at full lock.

Skip to 2:15 to skip the install and see it in action.

The base is universal to all PRO tank bags, so you can click on a 5L Micro tank bag for day rides, and then click on a huge 15L Enduro tank bag for longer trips.

Thanks for the feedback, I've only heard good things about SW motech. I tried the "Sport" model on my bike and it did not work out so hoping to see if any other models would possibly work before investing in it.

Unfortunately you need a "pro" tank ring and they do not make one for my bike. It is only the EVO line or ION line for me but I'd definitely get one of the PRO models otherwise. The magnetic feature seems to really simplify things from the reviews i've read. Thanks for the reply!

That is fantastic. I hate traditional magnetic bags, but they're not even an option on the plastic-tanked Tuono. The ring is unobtrusive enough to not be hideous when left on, too.

I'll offer what I have as well for a fair price. I had them on my CB1000R but they don't fit my current bike.

I have the city quick lock..,it’s great. Only issue is that when I'm lazy and filling up while sitting on the bike you need to perfect a small juggling routine to get the bag off, open the tank, fill up and refit the bag. I balance the bag at the top of the dash against the windshield. Just make sure you have lock to lock handlebar adjustment when you fit the bag. It is possible to make small adjustments the first time you fit the bag and possible, but tricky, to do so afterwards.

Also the quick lock bags are so much better than the ones with buckles etc. No paint scuffs and a nice positive fitment.

If you're looking for something that mounts like the SW motech vs. straps or magnets but is a bit less expensive GIVI has the Tanklock system and a range of bags that snap into the bike specific mount.

Look at their mount page (BFXX) to see if they have an adaptor that fits your bike.

Then the tank bags.........

Where are you located?

I think the one I have is the original EVO which you are more than welcome to take a look at.

I live in Whitby but I know you live in Mississauga if I remember correctly. I can come meet you there some where (Tim Hortons, Walmart parking lot, etc.) or anywhere in between to have a look. I would appreciate that. I rode with you once (with Brian and someone else on a ninja 1000 around Calabogie). It was a good long day, around 1k km if you remember. You showed me Southwood Road on the way back :)

Would you mind if I meet you somewhere to have a look at it? The City is the bag I'm most interested in!

I have a Givi topbox and side cases so they are the first thing I checked but no bueno for my bike. Thanks for the advice though!

I think I sent a PM to both of you guys (jc100 and Shane). For any body else reading this if you can help out or know of any dealers that carry the bags I would appreciate it. Cheers
