Just got a letter in the mail from Suzuki Canada telling me to take it to the dealer for the recall.

Does anyone know if this has an expiry? I mean if I take it to the dealer a year from now or two years from now do they still have to do it for free?

I still haven't got my letter, can I just take it to the dealer anyway?

Yes, you can get the recall done whenever you like and yes, you can book an appointment and have it done before you receive the letter.

thanks, I been working out in the west end for the past 3 weeks, hence staying at my gf's place. I was kinda disappointedwhen I got home last night and didn't see the letter

I just receive a letter in the mail from Suzuki Canada stating the nature of the recall and to contact the dealer. The job will take about an hour to do. The dealer cant play stupid now.
So I called Ready Suzuki/Ready Honda up to find out what's up with the recent massive front master cylinder brake recall that just went out and they told me that there was no such recall and they haven't heard about it.

What gives? What should my next steps be?

Just gave my bike in to the dealer yesterday. Should take 3-4 days for them to get the brake kit so should have it back within a week hopefully.

Ummm... Why didn't they order the part and then asked you to bring it in for replacement? What's the point of them having the bike collecting dust in the meantime?

*shaking head

I just received my letter in the mail. The last Suzuki dealership I visited was Thorn Hill Suzuki, but they closed down and were bought out by Suzuki of Newmarket. I would just rather not deal with Suzuki of Newmarket. Can anyone please recommend a reputable Suzuki dealer somewhere in the GTA, preferably close to Yonge and Steeles?

I usually go to Z1, Corsa Meccanica or Rider's Choice, so I really have no dealings with Suzuki dealers.

The bike is kept in storage far away from where I live.. It was easier for me to drop it off with them on a decently warm day rather than have to take a day off work mid-week, travel to the bike and ride it in the cold to the dealer. This is easier for me... drop it off on a friday.. pick it up when it's ready.. It either collects dust at Suzuki or collects dust in storage...

What's wrong with Suzuki of Newmarket? I bought my gixxer there and didn't notice any problems, at least not with the buying process, no experience with their service dept.

I could be out of the loop, and SoN may have changed their practices. But search this site and you'll find quite a few people had less than stellar experiences with their service department.

Recently recalled 2004 to 2009 Suzuki GSX-R600, GSX-R750 and GSX-R1000 motorcycles fitted with ASV Inventions brake levers before the recall can potentially have issues if the original ASV brake plunger rod on the recalled brake master cylinder is not reinstalled on the replacement.

Furthermore, the plunger rod on Suzuki's recall-mandated brake master cylinder must not be used with any ASV lever.

ASV recommends that GSX-R owners with ASV brake levers re-mounted on upgraded master cylinders return to the dealer that installed them to ensure that the ASV lever's original plunger rod was used.

Installation of ASV brake levers on the new master cylinders must be performed according to ASV's installation instructions, which can be found at ASVinventions.com.

If the original ASV plunger rod wasn't used and the dealer no longer has the ASV-supplied part, a replacement will be sent free of charge.

To receive this part or get more information regarding the recall exchange and installation of an ASV brake lever, please contact ASV Inventions at 714-861-1400.

I JUST got my bike back from Ready Powersports today, after getting the recall done. I have Pazzo's on my bike and no one even mentioned them. Got it all done no problems, no questions asked.
