Looking to buy a Sub-Compact Tractor for the new property and while I'm pretty confident in what I require, I'd thought I'd ask to see if anyone else is using one and what their thoughts are?

For some context it will be for 5 acres, grass cutting, snow removal, cultivating, and general farm duties.

Not what you want for grass a zero turn is the ticket. I have a LS MT1 works great for snow and digging holes. Pm if you want I have a contact that can get you a good price.

I would do a little research on a purchase this size, apples to apples, Which i know you will. So you'll be alright
 
I know someone that may have a Ferris (spelling ?) for sale...he may also have an ATV with low attachment too...no idea on price though...

Don't disagree, but not what I want.

Looking at
Kubota
John Deere
Koyoti (sp?)

So far John Deere is leading as they have a good range of implements and attachments

Yup, spent hours doing my research so far, but I like to see what others are using.
 
I'm with ss. The tractor that makes you happy for heavier tasks like snow removal or farm work will tear the crap out of your lawn. A lawn tractor will struggle with the heavier tasks. I don't know of anyone that has one do-it-all tractor. Most have a lawnmower and a utility tractor. Fwiw, I grew up with an mf35 and my parents now have a jd industrial tractor of similar size (when kids moved out, parents sold the mf. Neighbour died a few years ago and my parents bought his jd as my brother is around a lot more recently). There is a few acres of lawn to cut and it was always done with a push or riding mower. Brush hog on tractor was only used for clearing out brush.

MT125 - 24.7HP - LS Tractor USA
This is what I have I have a snow blade, fork lift forks, a bucket, box blade, backhoe and trailer mover for it. The lawnmower attachment makes zero sense as it is almost as much as a zero turn and the tractors are much slower and less maneuverable. I leave the backhoe and bucket on 90 percent of the time.
Nothing wrong with any of the brands almost all use a yanmar engine except Kubota.

I’m cheap enough if we ever want a pool…I’ll be asking to borrow one.

Ok, that is the one I figured you had.
I think for my prefect setup I'd get the tractor for everything but cutting grass as a riding lawnmower or zero-turn would be all that is required, not heavy brush just your typical grass/weeds acreage. No lush lawn for me...
I don't want a plow I'd prefer a snow blower attachment.

Nothing wrong with any of them I went LS for the warranty build quality and price. New Hollands are rebranded LS with a higher price tag. Deere was 8g more for the same class tractor. Bucket lift capacity was poor on the Kubota and Deere at the time. I almost bought a Mahindra as they have the best breakout if you get the xd compact. I have heard good things about the Massey subcompact.
If you want to play with one and get a feel somethime let me know.

One more annoying thing Deere uses a different quick attach for the loader. Every one else uses the industry standard one, meaning you can buy interchangeable buckets forks etc that fit anything but a Deere.

I've been shopping them for a bit as well. New or used is a good question also as if the right used package deal comes up as the attachments are so pricey.
ZT lawn mowers are great if the area you're cutting is smooth. If it's bumpy you'll lose tooth fillings and won't be happy on it.
 
If I purchase a Deere I'll buy Deere attachments.
Lots of choices I'll be looking for deals new or used.
My "lawn" is a little bit of everything, so ride comfort will be a factor.
I do like that Kubota has a front snow blower attachment, most others seem to be rear.
Due to the timing of my move snow removal will be the priority.

There is a front blower for every brand. Rear blowers are cheaper.
