Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

It looks like an 08 R6S to me. between 2006 and 2009 there were 2 different R6's produced. the R6R has the 'bee' style reflector headlights, more agressive seating position, inverted forks, radial mounted brakes, and the shorty exhaust.

The R6S is an exact copy of the 2003/2004 R6, so it can be easy to be confused. What I look for on the 'S' models is there should be an S on the R6 sticker on the side fairing, really the only way to tell between 60-09 and 03-04 other than VIN

It is an R6S. The more popular R6 that you're thinking of is the R6R.

Came here to say the same thing and I don't even know SS bikes.

How much would that bike have cost new in 2003?

From what I could find online, the Yamaha Blue and the Silver models had a list price of 8000 USD. In December of 2003 the Loonie was worth$0.76 USD, so the sticker price here would have been approx. $10,500. Figure $500 for dealer/freight/etc and 15% tax, roughly 12,600 OTD. I don't think he understands how depreciation works at all, assuming the bike lost no value at all as soon as he took ownership, it works out to ~350/year in depreciation.

I'm guessing from the Porche in the garage he's not in a hurry to sell, so I would expect that ad to be re-posted every month with the same price until either some unknowing sucker buys it, or he finally gets a clue and drops the price down to the average market value

Is that really that bad?

It's very expensive for that year. I was going to find other 2003-2004 R6's to put up in here, but pretty much all of them are 5000+. I would estimate around 3500-4000 depending on condition/miles/modifications for a 2003-2004.

Unless you especially liked that body style for the R6, why would you buy that over

Much newer bikes, just a little bit more, and still plenty of milage to go on them as long as you maintain them. Plus they have mods that the majority of people shopping for SS want already done (fender eliminator/exhaust/etc)
