Really? When I went to school, they were handing them out like candy. I'm glad they've tightened up that trap a bit.

Not saying that it's extremely difficult to get one, but my kid had an account with a bank since he was five, and couldn't get one with that bank.
It's getting a matching credit card for an existing debit card that can be an issue. You may have to move your account.

At risk of stating the obvious, Credit card and debit card are two completely different things
:| one needs credit and the other represents cash that already exists in your bank.
You want to have a credit rating before you are a legal adult :/ good luck with that, you might want to incorporate.

No, he was in University when he applied for the credit card. He just wanted to be able to use his bank account to pay the credit card bill easily. That way you can deal with any issues at just one institution, and they don't blame each other as much.
