****** my life, was changing the oil, and my drain plug is stripped

Anything I can do about it, besides replacing the whole thing ?

does any one have a used oil pan cover for 2004 GSXR 600 ?

Help pls

Don't worry your not the first or last, there should be one of these threads every week starting up.

What did you strip? the head on the drain plug? or the threads in the oil pan?

Threads in the oil pan

Quick question, i looked inside the drain plug hole, and Ive noticed there is something like a ball there, is that how it is suppose to be or it should be empty

Can you get Vicegrips on it?

Lots of options and threads about this: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/search.php?searchid=358839

sorry dont really understand your question
and link doesnt work

I put a plastic washer on the bolt, and it tightens decent enough, but if I tighten it even more, it will over spin and star over again, If i tighten it enough not to be able to undoit by hand, can I leave it as is, or it will still cause problems ?

what about metal shavings going inside the pan ?
is the pan siliconed ? because it doesnt want to come off, does it need a gasket as well ?

Take the pan out, it should only have a gasket only (no silicone), but from the pressing it's stuck. Get a sparkplug thread repair kit from Canadian Tire it's like $15, it has a tap and a few threadserts, and you'll need a new gasket for the pan. The threadserts I think are steel so you won't be stripping those anymore :D Only problem is if you tighten the plug too tight again, the threadsert might come out of the pan with the bolt when you try to get the bolt out

Happens all the time.....even to a friend of mine in my shop this summer. Two options, get a new oil pan or get it heli-coiled...... We brought his bike to Ryan gill (condor racing) and he heli coiled it while it was in the bike and we waited, took no time and we rode that day :) his bike is sitting here right now and still have had not an issue or a drop of oil!!! Hope this helps ya....cheers

Did the same thing to my bike. Stripped the threads in the pan. You need to replace the crush washer every so often on the plug. It does not need to be that tight but snug enough so it does not fall out. (I've seen that too). I had Condor racing helicoil it for me right on the bike without taking the pan off. No Issues. Might cost you 50-100 bucks.

Heli-coil. Did a friends gsxr 750 k5 with a standard spark plug helicoil, find them cheap on ebay with everything you need in the kit. Actually did it while oil pan was still on bike, just made sure to do it a little bit at a time and get ALL the shavings out.

Where do you get this Helicoil Kit ?
I might check out the sparkplug thread repair kit as well ?

my buddy is a car mechanic and he suggested we make the new threads and just use a bigger bolt

which one would you guys recommend Helicoil or will sparkplug thread repair kit will do as good of a job, or just cut the new thread with thread maker tool

Really appreciate all the help

Thanks alot

With the spark plug heli coil you wont have to use a new bolt. Also the helicoil is MUCH stronger then the aluminium of the oil pan so you wont have the same problem again.

hey I just picked up some spark plug helicoil M14-1.25 , there was the drain plug helicoil repair hit as well but more expensive, but the thing looks identical. Quick question tho, which size drill bit should I use to clean the whole 14 mm ?

Helicoil should fix you right up.
nope it wont. i have had 2 bikes come into my shop with helicoils in them and a oil leak .you have to replace the pan or go next size up on the bolt..next time dont tighten the bolt untill it goes loose..bobo.
