Neat...if you wire up the spark plug you can pre-warm your oil too for the winter
If it was a glow plug that would actually work. Not so much for a spark plug. A glow plug would put a lot of load on the charging system, though.

my issue is how to tap and insert while the pan is on the bike. putting it on the stand only gained me a couple of inches. Also the idea in my head is why not utilize the 1/2" of existing threads that are already inside the hole. Its a second chance and if I ever strip those out then I can helicoil at that point. If the original bolts were twice as long to begin with a lot less people would be stripping them out anyway.
Bring that spark plug to me and i will convert it to a nice oil plug.
Ok. Hold on. this "repair" (buggery) is on a GSXR?
You have limited space because you have not removed the fairing?

my gixxer is a 2002. they didnt put the plug towards the back of the pan till 2005. my plug is dead center on the bottom. I can remove without messing with the fairings.
you can get the sparkplug repair kit from Canadian tire for like $15, this is how I have it fixed on the track bike 03 gsxr600. But my thread insert came out with the drain plug lately because it was too tight I guess. This is one of those moment where heading to a well stocked Canadian tire would be usefull.
In the auto tool section, many have a m14 repair kit for blind holes. They also stock a lot of drain plugs as well as universal ones for stripped holes.
