Skip all the bikes in this thread and just get a KTM 690R. Same weight (or lighter) as pretty much all of the true street legal bikes posted here and close to twice the HP.

Plus it is overpowered for tight trail riding. I'm all for power, but trying to maneuver a heavy bike(by offroading standards) through the woods all the while riding the clutch in 1st gear sucks.

So, long story short---I used to ride dirt bikes in the past (10+ years ago), and just got the bug I wanna get one. But the catch is I want it to be street legal, so I can register it and purr around the block or to the convenience store LEGALLY.

You could gear it down for the really tight stuff. All bikes are compromises of course but you certainly compromise huge when things get faster, but I agree on the right tool for the job.
