All BMW Internal Combustion Motos Are Currently "Do Not Sell" - Adventure Rider
BMW Motorrad North America has apparently issued a stop-sale order and asked its United […]

Following a recent quality analysis, BMW is pursuing measures to further evaluate the material used in a component of its motorcycle evaporative system, which may not have been produced to material specifications.
As a result, BMW of North America is issuing a temporary, voluntary stop sale for all new and pre-owned BMW motorcycle models in dealer inventory, except for the CE-04.
This temporary stop sale is not safety related and BMW owners may continue to ride their motorcycles as normal.
Could be as simple as a bad warning sticker---that one happened to BMW a few years ago.Emission-control issue will do it, and for them to stop sales of all models, it must be a shared component. Fuel cap, evap canister, hoses, etc.
Ouch.
Meh. It will get sorted. My FJR went through a warning to "do not ride" and a full transmission replacement. FJR Owners forum was all a panic. Was all dealt with just fine.
My buddy rides a K1600 and loves it.Yes sir
The official statement I read said it was related to a component that may not meet spec. I haven't seen anything that specified which component (nor if it even affects emissions or if it just maybe affects emissions and they want to avoid the hammer). Is this related to the type of carbon that is used in the evap cannisters that many of these bikes have?
Evap systems aren't even required on motorcycles in the North American market except in California. Some manufacturers choose to make 'em all the same.
