my insurance isn't normal...extra $20-30 a month so roughly $1500 for 5 years?

believe what you want, do all the math that you want, contort the figures until its looks like something you want.

These are undisputable facts proven time and time again with respect to motorcycle thefts in large metropolitans.

no worries about your bike though, 650r aren't exactly desirable for thieves.

Still waiting for insurance to get back to me.

On my policy I have

Loss or Damage**
** This policy contains a partial payment of loss clause. A deductible applies for each claim except stated in your policy.

Specified Perils (excluding Collision or Upset)
Deductible $500
Premium $399

Specified Perils: Covers the described automobile against damage caused by certain specific perils. They are fire, theft or attempted theft, lightning, windstorm hail, or rising water, earthquake explosion.....

Why won't they insure you car for another 2 years? that's weird

Probably because of a ticket, I had a ticket on my record and SF wanted more than double for my car insurance but didn't care to use against my bike policy.

State farm has two plans; A and B.
They see cars as one and motorcycles as another. I had a major ticket with my car back in '09 and it just came off in Dec.'12. Well SF sees tickets like that not for 3 year but for 5. But then they Ok to insure 600cc.....lol makes no sence in a way

yeah 650's are almost as bad as 250's...but i'd definately get theft if i had a yzf or gsxer

Thanks for the thread hijack, not sure why 650r is a topic.

There is a limit on my policy for the amout paid for loss or damage 5,000 looks like im 2k out of pocket. Nice

Wow that sucks. Why is there a limit tho? Tell the adjuster you cannot buy the same bike with that money.

Its stated on the policy and that is what I must have delcared the bike as originaly.

I am eligible to rent a car up to 900 in the interim period or recieve a cash payout of 200.

How wonderful.
So let's add this up, > you got no bike for whatever amount of time, and only 5k to buy another one, and i assume you are still paying for insurance too.

What do all you "insurance" humpers have to say to the poor guy now?
Is he supposed to go through this a couple times a year, no big deal eh?
PS> Condo associations suck arse as bad as the lazy cops.

Your math is correct. No bike until I buy a new one. Given I work over 70 hours per week. Its going to take some time.

Insurance has been paid for in full (my insurance company required I pay in full, cash)

No comparable bike in sight.

state farm has a 2 tier rating system.

Tier 1 rate - car no tickets - G license
OR
- car no tickets - G license, with bike

Tire 2 rate - Car with ticket(s)
OR
- Bike alone
OR
- Car and Bike with ticket(s)

i know a broker, and when i got my bike insurance she didnt care if i had any tickets..just M1 or higher and G for 5 years or more i think..maybe it was g2 for more than 5yrs..cant remember off hand, when i went to add my car she pulled all my info and started asking questions.

i asked, and thats the brief answer i got... she said if i get a ticket the car will go way up and the bike will go to a tier 2 rate which is $40 more a month i think it was.. but if i was tier 2 and just the bike and got a ticker it wouldnt matter for the bike insurance, because you are already on their sh## list basically.

That sucks bro. Like someone said go through and find R6s' that are around 6000-7000. There are lots that range from 06-08 with km under 25,000

I don't understand how you would be getting a maxmum of $5K back, something is not right there.
If you have theft insurance, they should be paying you the exact replacement amount of the same bike.

It is what is allowable for loss and damage.

Probably my fault declaring what I paid for it. (assumed it to be a good deal, and did not account for all the repairs I had to do after aprox 1,000)

Something sounds very off.

Insurance payout is based on the "value" of the bike.

If I bought a brand new Ducati (Lets say $15k) from a sucker for $500. If it's stolen, my theft policy covers the cost of a REPLACEMENT bike - I have asked my agent.

It's not what you paid for it or declared it being worth... it's what the actual market value is.

Something doesn't add up.

My thoughts exactly. Used R6 values in that year range (with high mileage) from what I've been seeing online are at least $7000.

i had a clause on my old policy that capped the loss at 5 grand as well..and had a waiver for it.. purchase price that was declared. they usually put that in if you declare the cost of what you paid to be under market value...basically saying thats all you paid then thats all we are willing to.
if you have recites for newer parts you may be able to get those back on top of this.
