How long did you have this bike for? Last reported renewal for the VIN provided is dated back in May 2010 in Quebec.
Riding with no insurance?

Had it insured since feb 2012.

BTW I am seeing 2006 R6 on Kiji for 6-8K. How do I handle insurance if they tell me the value is 5,000.

Fax them quotes for similar bikes/year/mileage from kijiji or AutoTrader. If they are consistent they will match it.

Make sure when you get your new bike you install the #1 anti theft device, a Hyosung bike cover ;)

Lol...
1. Thieves are probably roaming forums like these.
2. Next thing you know, thieves are going to be looking for bikes with a Hyosung bike cover cause people with Hyosungs don't usually cover their bikes to begin with.

Sucks to hear someone stole your bike though... As for insurance, I've been told many times to always refuse their first offer cause its usually lower than market value. As someone else said, get ads of the bike with similar mileage and show them.

Good advise thanks. I'm out for one week and the ****s steal it. Its a 6 year old bike.

I live in a very upscale condo and surprised I will def make a lot of noise.

Would a GPS tracker make sense for my next bike

Not usually. It will receive no signal in your condo parking, so you can't enable the "lost signal notification" feature. 99.3% of thieves have a $20 GPS/cell blocker that just plugs in their cigarette lighter, so when they pick up your bike and throw it in their van they are safe until they get your bike disassembled and parted out for overseas shipment to Maruritius.

How do these guys even get entry into the garages? I thought there were concierges watching them? I've lived in 3 different condos and the only way I can see someone just slip in is if they tail gate another car.

On a side note, my family is from Mauritius. I would never imagine anyone would know about this place or even reference it :O

They get entry by:

1. Tailgaiting another car.
2. Paying the security guard a $500 finders fee when he calls in a parked bike ready to be stolen, who of course opens the gate for them when they arrive. (how my friends bike got stolen)

A friend of mine was dispatched to Mauritius to help customs there deal with the massive amount of stolen bikes that are arriving, usually broken down into a few parts. When it's registered as road legal no outside vin or import check is currently done :(

I had never heard of Mauritius either, but after my friend sent me pictures damn I want to move there :D

Don't send them prices until they give you one first, I was offered $4,900 + tax last year from SF for a 01 F4i with 35K on it (Well above market value)

When my car got stolen I sent SF pictures, i mean a lot of pictures. I had receipts too of my mods. You may or you may not get anything from it but worth a shot. Just don't tell them about any performance type mods(ie PC).

Long story short I got above market value cuz I bought the bike as a theft recovery for cheap and pieced it together myself. Damn civic sir's

Also don't forget the deductible. They minus that from what ever they'll value your bike.
