Ive ordered from Kneedraggers before.....And + shipping and tax that 465 will actually end up being a lot more.....Youll be lucky if they dont ship UPS and you end up paying $80 just for brokerage fee

If you get a quote from any local shops I assure you the Ohlins will be more then a Hyper pro

The only way to avoid tax is to drive to the US and buy it. Or buy a used one from an individual not a store......

Or ask them to ship via USPS. I've ever been charged brokerage fees or taxes with them.

Then the shipper committed fraud, and either shipped it marked as a gift or a lesser then actual value...USPS turns its packages over to Canada post, and they charge flat rate brokerage $5 for small packages or $10 for large...And they also charge duty and tax according to the value and origin of the product as marked on the export document...

There are many ways to avoid paying brokerage/Duty/Tax....However they are pretty much all illegal

When i received my package (a netbook $300+) the price on the package said the actual price and i wasn't charged taxes or brokerage fee.

And then one time i bought a RC helicopter and the seller shipped it via UPS, total cost of the item was $60 and i had to pay taxes on that PLUS $30 processing fee or something like that.

To not be charged tax and brokerage on a package with import documents listing a $300 price, it would either have to be marked as a GIFT, COMMERCIAL SAMPLE, or WARRANTY...
 
If one is ordering parts from the US, it is important to have the parts described on the customs declaration as "Motorcycle Parts". If the parts are made in the USA, then you want that noted as well. Thanks to NAFTA, motorcycle parts made in the USA are duty free. That is the extent of the legal requirement from the shipper. For off-shore manufactured items with no value-add modifications made in the US, you may very well incur duty. Or you may not. You will very likely incur sales tax charges - as you would were you purchasing the item here or in person in the US.

Lastly, have anything you purchase shipped to you via USPS (the mail). The longest its ever taken me to receive anything is 10 days and it can save a significant amount of money over other methods. I don't recall being charged a brokerage fee by Canada Post however I may not have noticed. The next package I receive (should be next week) I'll check.

Almost forgot, I've had both Ohlins and Hyperpro dampers. The Ohlins worked a little better than the Hyper-Pro at low speed (less stiction), but I don't imagine that's why you're buying it - for its performance at low speed. ;)
