Bingo. I know the dealer wants a 5kish margin for profit. What's the price if you include the tax savings on trade in? Great. Now is it worth the difference between that and dealing with the outright morons plaguing the online buy/sell places now? Almost never.I hate dealing with randos too. I prefer giving/selling to friends at a very generous discount, or I trade it in and bite the bullet and take a small hit for the convenience of not having to negotiate with dolts.
$25K trade-in is equal to $28.25K with the tax benefit. IMO, it's worth the $1750 not to have to deal with kijijidiots.
I had a guy lowball me, then came up a bit then asked what I wanted. He agreed to my slightly reduced price then went MIA the day we were supposed to meet...I cancelled plans with a friend to make this happen. He then contacted me a week later saying sorry and he wants to meet.Srsly.
If your opening offer starts out with 50% off my already-low asking price, then your message automatically gets booted to the trash can with no response.
Had a guy who regretted low-balling me and repeatedly messaged me after, raising his price higher and higher till he eventually reached my asking price.
I still said no because he was such an idiot.
He later sent another message from his girlfriend's account. I only knew this because of his atrocious spelling.
I also said no to his sock puppet email account.
So satisfying.
I did sell for my asking price to somebody else. Who wasn't an idiot.
