State Farm - wtf?

Am I the only one that got a ridiculous quote on their car insurance from SF?

Thy quoted me on 2 different bikes I was interested, and he said if I do however swing over my car to insure with them as well the price will be "much much" cheaper.

So it was BS both ways:

A) I currently pay about $188/month for my 2002 Expedition. If state farmers insures it my monthly payments will leap to a whopping $480/month!!

B) To insure the car-and-the-bike together I save an entire $8/month on the bike.

Just the zx-6r = $202/mnth
just the zx-14 = $250/month

..$1,000 Deductible

Sad part is, from the general consensus here SF is amongst the lowest, if not the lowest bike insurers.

Any other suggestions?

Maybe you should try calling another branch to see if they will give you similar quote.

strange.

With a ZX6, you should be around the $120/month mark.

I would call another agent.

Ok, cool. I didn't think different agents can quote different numbers from the same company. That means the agents can play with the price? Is that allowed?

Try contacting allstate and keep us updated. I have no brokers in mind but I have heard good things about them from these forums.

That's very strange.

Call a a different agent. If they give you a similar quote then the guy wasn't lying. But if it's totally different, then that guy is just trying to make some money.

Edit:
When I was getting quoted, a 2006 Honda CBR 600RR, I got $143 a month. Just my bike. 28yr old, 1 at fault accident, Durham region.

SF stops being the best option for some once you are over 30... I don't know how TD/MM would deal with someone who is a new rider and on an SS, though.

Their automobile insurance is generally regarded as poorly priced.

As a comparison for you. Through state farm.

Full g for 9-10 years clean record.

M1 march 17th

99 vstar 650

2007 mazda 3

Car-$156 (up from 144 with belair)

Bike $84 (when combined with car)
$140 (without car)

Life $25 as smoker (my agent will not insure bikes without life)

Id try a different agent.

Pm me if you want the number for mine.

Maybe it's the area he lives in? If he's in brampton and you're in Ajax, both of you will have drastically different quotes

From my experience, all statefarm agents give different quotes.
I find Seamus Kelly on this forum provides the best price

That is true. Although he should still call another/other agents

I was just insured with TD for my first season last march. CBR125R for $617 for 7 months. Second season age 25 SF offering me 1490/year for an 01 R6.

It differs with agents, the cheapest I've found amongst SF is Renata Midura

I'm amazed by the quick and awesome replies :)

Will be calling tomorrow and Friday during the small breaks I have to diff SF agents and others such as Allstate as well as the references provided here.

I'm in Etobicoke btw

I don't think Allstate does SS unless if you were on an old policy that was grandfathered.

SF did the same when I called them as well. 2006 Accord V6 Coupe (6psd) -- Paying around $2300/year with TD MM and SF wanted around $4500/year. Even their agent said stick with TD MM given the rate difference, lol.

wow Allstate is cheap
just got a price for my HP4 $1400 a year
just bike no cars

Thanks

If you bring over your cars its another 30% off.

I used to have my cars with belair, then some other no name company and bike with state farm. When i switched over everything to allstate ended up saving 1000$+ per year

i was told no discount for cars
but when i get my M in the next 3 weeks it drops by %30
BTW my car is $996 full coverage 2006 mazdaspeed 6
they have really good rates
