Standard VS GP shift ???

The good thing about a lot of newer sport bikes (but not all of them!) is that the shifter is designed to be easily flipped over so you can have it whichever way you want it. Some require rearsets, though. (That's why I have a cbr125 with rearsets ... and even then, I had to fabricate a couple of custom pieces in order to do it)

IIRC Mat Mladin used street shift pattern. Use whatever works for you.

Isn't the real question that if the op is still learning how to ride why are they buying a bazzaz and putting tc on the bike?

If you don't understand where the limits of traction are traction control will just be mega confusing. TC makes you slow, the fast guys use it as an aid when playing with the edge of traction.

Nope, OP asked about the product not if he should be allowed to use it.

Who said anything about allowed? Possibly worth mentioning if they're still learning how to ride track they might be better off without it.

He just asked what sensor he should get for his bazzaz not if it's a worthwhile product for a new rider. No need to preach about skill vs gizmos. If he wants to buy it then who are we to question wether he's got the skill to need it.

Helpful people who could potentially aid in his learning process?

Wow. I guess that is what is adding that extra 20 seconds to my lap times now .. cuz i have TC now.

Ok well start over then

I feel like I'm bombarding you guys with a ton of silly questions, but you have been a great help so far and I appreciate all your input.

What are you running on the track and why?
I know most prefer the GP shift action but I don't understand the logic behind it.
How is it better?
I'm trying to decide on which pattern to go with before I order my Bazzaz Z-Fi TC, not sure if it matters?
Will the QS work with both patterns or only one or the other?

Thanks in advance.

Op do you really need TC, how fast do you think you are? Josh Hayes didn't really use it till this year so what makes you think you need it. The new Gsxr doesn't have it either, man up or it'll add time to your laps lol.

Its a fuel management system that has the added bonus of TC. TC was not even talked about in the original post.

GP-Shift for me..... I had it on both track and street bikes until I went track-only (for now). Didn't take long to get used to it at all. Haven't looked back since.

Power Commander has both pull and push sensors available... not sure about the Bazazz but if it's a modern sport bike you could easily flip the shift knuckle (like I did) to flip it if needed.

I never converted, tried it but in between street riding and teaching it was too much for my brain to handle.

Stop getting bukkake'd by race fuel... that isn't helping the brain cells any either.

How about we split the difference? Lol it was mentioned in the first post, hence the tc part, but I missed the FI part and thought they were just putting tc on the bike.

And lol inferno, how do you get away with responding to only half of what is in quotes :p traction control in the most literal sense slows the rear wheel, and have heard many a time in various forms of pro racing that too much tc makes the bike slower. You must be REALLY fast for it to have made you lose 20 seconds :p

Lol yep no prob. The standard setting on the bazzaz actually works quite well, I only noticed it once during my last race and I beat my best time by 3.5s.

My last race on Long Track I was in the 53s I think. No TC for Timmy but I am hoping to get into the mid 1:07s on Pro Track!!

I'm definatly not crediting the time loss to TC as I only noticed it once but it didn't slow me down as far as I could tell.

Nope, only from 2000 and up. Time to upgrade.

Really??? I thought all 99 came with something they called a throttle back then ..... yeah old school technology probably has no place in this thread carry on

My 2003 SV650 has traction control from the factory, in the form of negative horsepower. haha... :)

I use GP shift on the track and standard shift on the street. Works for me.

You mean the Go-Stick? No one says throttle anymore.
