Stand Vehicle - Signed Highway During Prohibited (Time/Days)

Hi, Last night I got my car towed at 591 Richmond st west, Toronto. Car got towed around 2am and the reason says, "Stand Vehicle - Signed Highway During Prohibited (Time/Days).I believe I was legally parked. The only sign at the location was the Green parking sign that says 8am-9pm, means it's free after 9pm.As I was looking for my car, I saw the Mounted Officers and asked them if I was parked wrong and as they looked around, they said that there's no signs that says that I can't park. They told me that I can fight it.
I then went to get my car 11 Glen Scarlett and had to pay $257 and I found a $100 ticket on the car.
Now my question here.. As the only sign in that location was the Green Parking sign, and the other sign was the one that says "DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAY" that was it. Do you think I can fight the tow and the ticket? Where should I go to fight the towing?

They towed my car and the gentleman who parked in front of me.

Seems winnable (on the ticket front, I doubt they will give you back the tow charge). If you get the media involved and make enough stink, maybe we will hear about another dirty city contractor. Not sure of required driveway setbacks in Toronto but car in front of you couldn't possibly have been towed for that.

Unlikely but did city declare a snow event at the time?

I am pretty sure I didn't block the driveway. Both me and the car in front of me got towed for the same reason.

No snow event was declared.

It doesn't matter what you did or did not do - it only matters that you prove you did not commit the offense listed on the ticket. What is the actual text? Does it have a specific address (it must)? Then look up the offense and if you believe you are innocent, take it to early resolution. They should throw it out if you have a good argument.

By the way, you realize this is a motorcycle forum and your first post as a new member is about your car?

It looks like the city will claim you parked in a no standing zone. No standing as per above quote essentially means you can pickup or drop people off, not park.

But the photos and signs don’t seem to back this up. Take pictures of where your car was parked and fight it.

Also, towing on 1 ticket is pretty extreme. Usually that’s reserved for gross violation (3+ tickets at same location consecutively) or marked tow zones. Only thing I can think of is the officer felt you were blocking the driveway or there’s some other contradictory signage posted further behind this spot on the other side of the driveway.

In front of 579 no standing 2 AM to 4 AM. Arrow both ways which means right to the corner.
