Interesting. 30 km over the limit in an 80 zone leads to instant revocation of license.

Oh yeah, nice catch even if he did manage to slide in just under the revocation threshold.

probably wouldn't have crashed if there was no speed trap.

speeding doesn't cause crashes, speed traps do.

those speed traps are more dangerous due to the reaction they cause on people

Cops on the highway seem to have the same effect

I'd fight it. 'But your honour, I wasn't riding the motorcycle"

He probably wouldn't have crashed if he hadn't been speeding to the denree he was. At slower speeds he would have had more time to recognize and adjust his riding to the "hazard" ahead without loss of control.

The speed trap didn't cause this crash. The rider did through his lack of control over his bike. The speed trap may have been the trigger this time around but there are many things out there that can trigger a need for hard braking that have nothing to do with speed traps. Your speed should take the possibility of those potential events into account, as well as your own personal ability to control your vehicle.

This guy clearly could not handle his vehicle sufficiently well at his speed to deal with what may have appeared in front of him at that speed. THis time is was the presence of a speed camera, but it could just as easily have been a wreck, a pedestrian crossing the road., or even just some debris on the road.

I have to agree with Turbodish. Too many people want to blame someone else for their own actions. The guy chose to speed obviously doing alot more than just the 30 over he got clocked at as he was sliding by. Dont blame those enforcing the rules of the road or the speed laws. Blame the one who chose to ignore them and paid the price to find out why they are there. I occationally find myself above the speed limit and adjust when I realise it but I wouldnt yell at the cop who stopped me. I ususally appologise for not being more attentive or explain the situation that caused me to be going that fast and I ( knock on wood ) havent gotten a ticket yet. But if I had I would be mad at myself and not the cop or the laws they enforce.
In case your wondering I am not a cop I am a firefighter however and see the result of people ingnoreing the rules almost every day I am at work.

The lesson here is that everyone needs to practice high speed braking. :)

Theres a person sliding on the pavement and all you can say is nice catch.

I hope one day you're j walking, get hit by a car and everyone points and laughs at you because you were breaking the law. I also hope you get a ticket for it as you're laying in the hospital, or a cop hands your family the ticket at your funeral lol

Too many unknowns with this story.

The crash could have been from speed, weather, mechanical failure, not to mention a bunch of other unlikely possibilites ranging from: Hurricane winds pushed the rider above the speed limit and knocked him over to the rider was running away from Aliens trying to abduct him.

All we can say is it's a rare shot, hopefully the rider is ok, and there's a cow in the background.

Anyone make out the model of the bike?

Man the poor guy. I am not looking forward to the time we start using the speed trap cameras.

In regards to speeding, anyone in this city who says they obey the speed limit on the highway is either full of it or they are the one holding the entire highway up. RARELY have I seen people driving at the posted limits on our highways, those that do hold the thing up like nothing else. The person on the road going slower than everyone else is at a much higher risk of an accident than those going faster.

As long as the tickets don't effect my insurance premiums (like red light cameras) then go right ahead.

I'm fine with paying a speeding ticket....it's the years of Premium increases for going 15over that pisses me off.

Really? You're ok with getting ripped off because the speeds on the highway are set to low to begin with?

No they dont. Stupid people cause crashes.

You deserve a ban.

NEVER EVER HOPE SOMEONE CRASHES.

Not just on the highway. When they set up some times downtown they delay traffic for miles. They often set up speed traps at Broadview and Danforth - sometimes at rush hour. Whenever they do traffic gets backed up for miles.

Same with Bloor and Bay, where they have a high presence during rush hour. Its a pickle, because on the one hand you really want someone there, where people get really frustated and do all sort of things. But at the same time they tend to take up a lane and seriously contribute to congestion, and hence, more bad moves by drivers.

In terms of the greater good, I think its fair to say they can cause as many problems as they solve.

I never would on anyone, but turbo has crossed the line a million times...

Then let karma sort him out. Don't play into that. There is no excuse to ever type that stuff.

You do know that speeding tickets effect your insurance right? Why would you want to wish that on anyone?
