Sony Action Cam!

If it costs more than the GoPro 2 will you still get it? I want one that can record 5-hours straight, find me one and I'll buy it, otherwise I will continue using my Samsung family camcorder that's hardwired to my bike's battery and can record for 8 or 20 hours straight.

BTW, I just watched this youtube video shot with the GoPro Hero 2.... there's no way in hell another camera this small can take as stunning HD videos.

sony looks better at $200 no need for wifi imo

where do you work?

The best part about the JVC is the Screen on the side of it. No other action cam comes with that at this price point. Now add in the function of being able to use Wifi right out of the box you pretty much can't beat it. There is nothing more frustrating then trying to aim one of these action cams. GoPro you need to purchase their extra screen and that alone makes it $379.95 US you still don't have the wireless capabilities which are more money. Also I found the button on the GoPro dificult to work with gloves on especially while snowboarding which is why I bought the Contour to replace my GoPro. I just believe the JVC is the next progression of these cams and right now it sits at the top overall. Without an LCD screen I feel Sony is one step behind.

the JVC featureset seems great! My main complaint about the GoPro is that you can't have the LCD *AND* WiFi at the same time, until they get around to releasing the app (which keeps getting delayed and stripped of features...)

We retail it for $349.95+tax
Can you power it by the bikes battery/12v and have it record AT THE SAME TIME?

Also, does it have the threaded tripod hole thing on the bottom?

If it can do those two things right out of the box, I'm ordering it.

JJ's 4WD and Off-road Center (Just Jeeps).

Even the old first generation driftHD170 1080cam had a full colour LCD screen for aiming, with a rotatable lens.

I have one and it does have the threaded hole on the bottom. Not sure if it can be wired to the bike. I am waiting for my mount to come in the mail.

Your right I was not aware of that one. But the DriftHD720 still does not have WiFi and is at a similar price point.

Yes has the industry standard tripod mount. As for the charge while recording I will have to try when I get home.

Does the Sony have loop mode recording as well? Can it be set to over write oldest video data automatically?

This is a great feature, especially when powered by the bikes power, so it can just be on all the time, and only good video's are saved - the rest is simply over-written, like most dashcams.

Ohhh, I never thought about that feature. Would be great having it as a dashcam in the car, for when it's not on the bike :)

all helmet cams on the market today probably use sony image sensor anyway lol. this sony action cam is the first and only one so far with 720p 120fps. that makes a nice slo mo video.

Pretty cool. I've been thinking about buying a second action cam--one that's more head mountable than the gopro--and the Sony looks like it might fit the bill. Up til now I was considering the Contour but Sony's price and ability to shoot 120fps @ 720p is a big selling point. Anyone know if the buttons can be pressed while in the waterproof case?

The JVC looks nice too from a feature standpoint but my concern with that one is weight. The screen would be really helpful though.

The last one looks more like a surveillance device but I guess it could work.
