so i parked my bike on spadina ave. (china town), paid for the parking and put the slip under the gas tank caps lid (the lid for the key). I come back and see a ticket instead of the slip. I was like WTF!!! looks like someone took my slip and used it for their parking.
How should i fight this??

the parking slip comes with 2 parts, one is the proof of purchase receipt(that you should keep with yourself in this case), and the other is the portion that you leave with your bike. If you don't have the proof of purchase portion I believe you are SOL

How long were you parked? It's free as long as you don't stay over the time allowed. If the ticket doesn't say anything about parking over the time allowed, take it to the office, show the clerk your registration and it will be cancelled.

i parked there from probably 3:40 till 4:20 so about 40 mins. But bikes take so little space!!!

motorcycles park in the city of toronto (on the street) for free (whenever parking is available).
the ticket should never have been issued.

take it to the city to get it cancelled. not sure, but you may be able to even cancel it by phone.

This....as long as you were legally parked within the time limit, parking is free.

um, look at the ticket and see if it is actually for your bike...

+1

I've 'received' a few tickets for other vehicles over the years, sometimes written for streets far away from where I'm actually parked.

Make sure you check the ticket very well and confirm that it actually has your plate # on it. A common prank that was played back in my school days was to put your tickets on other students cars with the hopes they're the type that don't look at the ticket and just pay. OR to steal a ticket from someone elses' vehicle and place it on your vehicle with the hope that the next parking enforcement officer will not bother your vehicle when he/she sees that you've already got a ticket.

Untrue, a vehicle with a ticket is not immune to getting another ticket within a certain amount of time. What amount of time I don't know.

It's more than likely that there is no parking during 'rushhour' time, around 4pm-6pm depending on the street... Go back and check the sign (or see whther you can read it using google maps street view) for the times parking is acceptable.

Don't worry, this happens to a lot of bikers because we don't need to bother checking the cost of parking, after which we forget to check the time...

??? Where exactly did you park? Street parking on Spadina in Chinatown is separate from the road. There are no prohibited hours in those spots.

+1 this is what i'm thinking as well

going south on spadina just before hitting dundas st. there is a parking space, in front of Todays sportswear (if you streetview it!). To be exact, you will see a suv in streetview, so i parked exactly where the front of the suv is. :)

dude, there's a sign right there that says "No Stopping" 3:30 to 6:30 (looks like). You parked on the wrong side of that sign.

Okay now I know what happened. You parked outside of where the arrow for paid parking is pointing. The arrow for the Green P street parking is pointed to the right, you must've parked to the left of the sign in that angled space meant for cars to pull into the street. Some parking officers are sticky about that and will ticket you for parking outside the signed area. Technically it's the wrong ticket. The no stopping (not parking) between 3:30-6:30 refers to the area beyond the inset parking spots to the left. So if you were parked directly in front of the streetview SUV, you still be in the inset parking spot but beyond the arrow. Take it to the MTO office and argue that you received the wrong infraction.

Are you sure that the ticket didn't just blow off?
