No, but you're imagining the ice. I cycled home that night and could see and hear drivers scrambling for traction on 1 cm of snow, the same snow that I rode through no problem. It wasn't ice, it was snow compacted under the weight of a car, and drivers not adjusting for the conditions. My tires cut through the snow to grip the asphalt, I imagine it would be the same for a bike.

ya you're right, because where u were there wasn't ice so clearly it was impossible for where i was.
