Im driving tonight on the 401 west near milton, the temperature is -10, -18 with windchill, its snowing as hell, the roads are covered and ice everywhere. I look on the other side of the highway and long and behold some guy is riding what appeared to be a sport bike in this crap on the highway!

What on earth would posses somebody to do something so foolish?

I know, cool story bro...but i had to share this

Up here in Pet we have quite a bit more snow, and the roads don't really get cleared all too well.
Last weekend some guy was out in freezing rain on a tourer... Wonder if he made it home without dropping it, there's lots of black ice up here and the roads are crap.

Black sportbike, topbox?

Probably the same ppl posting under "January Rides"

Sent from my Phone, dont judge the grammar

Last night driving over the 401 on Winston Churchill heading back to G-Town look to our left and a guy on a scooter is coming the other way...a freaken scooter in -10 with pretty bad snow and pretty bad drivers, he is either the toughest idiot to bust out the scoot or just a fool... I am thinking...fool

i would have to go with fool. in weather like yesterday to be out on a bike you have to have a couple loose screws

Not really. The weather last night and tonight (so far) hasn't been exceptional.

snow covered and icy roads on 2 wheels? what part of it is not foolish to u?

Except the roads weren't icy.

A gentle hand on the throttle, care during turns, the occasional foot dragged across the pavement to gauge its slipperiness. There's so much salt on the roads this late in the season that it would need to be below -10c for them to freeze with the little moisture they saw before 21h00 Thursday night.

The only place where that rule of thumb doesn't quite apply is on overpasses, where a wind can get underneath the road surface.

The roads were getting a little snow-covered in Oakville, but it wasn't a big deal yet. The QEW was in excellent shape, as was the 407.

True, a build-up of slush or snow drifts can really get entertaining, but none of that was in evidence last night.

Ahh well. What can I tell you, my PR2's didn't even come close to having a hard time of it Thursday or Friday night. Hell, I even lifted the front wheel a couple times while testing my rear tire's grip.

I really don't understand your vendetta against anyone who rides for longer than you...or a smaller bike than you. If I had an Adventure/Touring bike I'd still be riding with kobby tires/studs

Everyone should take advantage of these golden riding opportunities.

i also dont care what size bike you ride, if you are not capable of telling sarcasm when i joke around with others thats not my problem.

Emotions running high in this thread. Will retire to water closet with vintage m/c journal till things blow over. L8R.
