Solo conversion!

Jay-D it looks great! I was just about to do the same thing - same bike too ;o)
One question, when you took off the right side peg did the pre-load knob stay attached with its own bolts or did you have to rig something up? It looked to me that the peg bolts also held on the knob bracket, but I haven't had it off yet.

I'm in the same boat. I don't enjoy having a passenger, so it's really more for the chick than it is for me. I ride like a grandma with a passenger on 'cause I really don't want to be the reason she isn't pretty any more. It's still fun for them 'cause it's a bike; but boring as hell for me. I usually don't take a chick more than once.

Many bikes look a lot better with a seat cowl - mine included. The only reason I don't have one is because I strap a duffle back on to the back seat when I go to work. I considered getting a race exhaust that would eliminate the footpegs, but I wasn't sure I was ready to give up the option of 2upping yet.

There's a little bit of modification required.

If you look at the pic, I drilled out the bracket so it would accommodate the foot peg bolt, I think the hole needs to be a tad bigger. I rotated it clockwise 90 degrees, and drilled a hole in the plastic cap to re-route the hydraulic cable.

I'll take more close up pics.. it's not difficult to do at all!

Nice, I need the passenger pegs for long distances... and it's also a tie down point for cargo.
me too .. two points on the passenger pegs, and two points on the passenger grap bar.

and thanks for the reminder ... I gotta get something better than my 3.1MP point-n-shoot Pentax ...

No passengers here....
Besides my rear-sets took care of the peg issue for me.
I don't think I could ever '2-Up', its too much responsibility to have someone else on the bike with me, I wouldn't be enjoying the ride.
Besides bike looks way nicer IMO without the chunky passenger peg holders.......

Wife has her own bike, so the problem of 2-up riding has never been an issue for me.

It is really more for her (cute chick) than it is for me. I like sharing the joy (showing off) of being on two wheels. 2 rules for me:
1) I like you.
2) Don't move when we're moving.

As for having excess weight and liability on your back, obviously no rider enjoys the actual ride. The rider enjoys the company of that chick/gf/wife.

2 Up is 90% of my riding with my girl. Solo just feels too lonely. Hell, thats why we got the bike in the first place!

Thanks for taking the time to add that info! Looks like what you did works well. I'll attempt this soon.

It may be wise to blur your plate number. I'm not sure if it is true but others may be able to get your address from it. Then again it may not matter if the plate isn't registered to you. That being said i've ridden with passengers, some good others very bad. One person leaned the opposite way i turned, i think one of the most unnerving experiences in motorcycling.

don't enjoy it, don't like the way my bike looks in 2up setup, but some times the benefits out-weigh the negatives
