Sold the R1 already! lol

Ya I have read alot about the r1s and the heat problem( after i boughth one lol), taking out the cat and it running like crap would make complete sense. I dont think I would get the same year, im gonna like i said stick with an 02/03 , i was really happy with that bike.

I was out with a passenger and unintentionally lofted my 03's front end with throttle alone in 3rd gear at around 6k rpm hehehe. My bike is geared, piped, filter, v. stacks and my passenger weighs 110 lbs... so yeah, they are decently torquey!

My Vulcan 2000 went vertical with a 120 lb passenger. Torque rules when the traction is available.

The heat issue is one reason I sold my TLR.

The 07 CBR 600 RR I tested was much the same. Very noticeable heat on the ankle/shin, warm seat.

It's probably going to get worse with that new, tiny Ducati 1198. Can't see much room for heat shielding on that thing.

Almost every sport bike cooks your legs. Mainly cause you are sitting just above a high output engine that runs hot. The venting usually leads to your legs. It's a part of the SS bike that you need to deal with. Or get something else.

I think I'm going to try the exhaust wrap....most of my exhaust is hidden anyway so it cant look THAT bad...

i always had a smile on my face everytime i rode my 04 R1... and mine didnt have a heat issue cuz i barely 'cruised' on it.

Try riding in leathers.

Even on my '05 R6, it would get pretty toasty with jeans on. With leathers, I don't feel any heat from the bike below me.

No more jeans for me :)

ya well my 02 r1 i never felt thagt much heat, so as much as most ss's produce alot of heat down there, some are better then others, so thats all im lookin for
