I’d tend to agree. The fleece is more of a sweater than an actual jacket. The Aker seems like more of a middle layer while the Midway seems more of a top layer for everyday casual use.
Chrispy I think you are on the wrong tack ...you want layered technical gear ...not fleece.
An uber thin merino wool/poly layer like ColdPruf will keep you warmer without bulk.
Many jacket providers have quilted zip out liners which are just about useless. Leather is good for wind but does not trap air and has "cold spots" ....my Honda jacket is the same and even the 3 season Scott has some chilly spots. An oversized ColdPruf top ( not form fitting) provide the air layer you need ....you can feel the warmth the instant you pull it on. The leather is for wind....the layer for warmth.
The Extreme Performance two layer garment has been specifically engineered with our ColdPruf technology to trap air between the layers of fabric
I agree the ColdPruf pullover would work but these garments aren't too convenient for everyday use -- you need to bring a change of clothes. For a planned weekend ride -- great -- if you plan on commuting to work or extending your everyday riding into the cold season, a windproof liner will be a touch more practical.
I do like the dickie for near zero cold days, prevents frostbite on the ole Adams apple (don't ask me how much that hurts!).
Windproof is your rain gear ....the Coldpruf is likely the easiest thing ever to warm up ...pull it over what ever you are wearing for everyday clothes under your riding jacket ...as I said ..buy oversize.
I use a water proof liner under my mesh but that's just to add some warmth and rain protection and does not pack down the way the ColdPruf does.
He has a leather jacket ....he has windproof
I think I found my problem, which is my leathers a bit loose, so I went the cheap route first and got the Costco one. That was enough to fill the gap plus fleece lined for minimal warmth. Tested sat night and sun morning around the 5-8c mark. Worked well. Will see again once I ride in the -5c range. Short distance, approx 15-20 mins,
