Socket set 70% off at Canadian Tire

There is always one set or another, similar to that one, one sale for a similar price.

I bought this set on sale a couple of years ago, and it's absolutely great. It has nearly everything you'll ever need.

There are a lot of socket sets at Canadian Tire, but I really think this is THE one to get, especially for that price.

Appreciate the link. For what it's worth I would only buy the mastercraft professional series or the stanley black set. This one is a bit poorer quality. Just my $0.02.

+1

I have the large Stanley Black Chrome set. It's $300 regular, got it on sale for $90. Worth waiting for.

lifetime warranty on mastercraft, use it til it breaks then get your new one

These tools are quality enough for the home garage mechanic. Unless you're rebuilding engines everyday, you don't need professional tools.

Awesome. Now where can I buy a reasonably priced 1/2'' torque wrench?

Seven, you most likely got the Maximum set for more $$. To all, I'd wait for the Maximum set to go on sale again, there are two different ones that go on sale once every couple of months, better quality tools.

I read a customer review and it said it was missing a few sizes? Skipping some odd number imperial sockets, and something about some missing metrics from 11-16? Do you think I could crack one open to see for myself at the store or will I get tackled by a CT employee? I don’t think they shrink wrap these right? You just pull the cardboard sleeve and should be able to open it up.

I regularly slide a mastercraft 3/8 ratchet into a chainlink fence post to crack seized lugs. I've never had one break, ever. And if it does, who cares. Take it in to Canadian Tire and walk out with a new one no questions asked. They're truly lifetime warranty.

I second this as a very good deal. Will be all the average home mechanic will ever need.

Few things:

Mastercraft hand tools today are made in china by Stanley.

These sets do skip sizes, sometimes they skip a metric size that a SAE can be substituted for, sometimes they skip important sizes to make you buy an individual socket or wrench for a stupid high price.

Most of the tool count are cheapo little screw bits etc.

They are still decent tools (I have lots) for home use and the price is still decent but pretty much every week the is a set at 70% or something off, so no need to rush... Find the set you really want and wait them out!

The older stuff that was made in NA was much better and a lot stronger for any given wall thickness (some of the new stuff is just as strong but the walls are thicker to get the strength). My older Mastercarft stuff is some of my most prized tools...
