SOAR Racing Thread

Lost Era Light Final. Pretty uneventful for me. The front four gapped me early and all I could do is hold station. Outtacontrol's brake fade and lappers got me close again in the end, but not quite enough.

Saw lots of photographers at round 2- anyone have any pics, or know where to find them?

Round 3 in the books. Saturday qualifying race got to start on pole which was nice as it was my first front row start all season. Another not so great start and I lost a couple spots, went into T1 in 3rd. First lap went into the carousel just passing into 2nd and then had him run across my nose, I could just about feel him touching me as he went past, I just kept it on track and managed a 2nd place after the same guy went off track on the last lap while leading.

Saturday evening was nice having the band playing while having a fire and then the usual fireworks. Got into the tent just before the downpour hit. Woke up with a nice sized puddle in the tent but thankfully nothing was to badly wet.

Sunday was not as good as I was hoping by far. Threw the rains on to get out for a practice session while the track was still wet since I had never been on the track in the wet. A couple crappy things throughout the day and then came the race. Started again on front row (2nd) and again was 3rd by T1. Stayed in 3rd as the first two were hard on each other for the first lap and I just wanted to wait for them to finish running each other around before trying to jump in. They almost collided at the end of the drag straight which caused me to sit up and I lost a spot there.

A couple laps later in the same turn I lost the front and somehow kept it up with my knee and pushed myself back onto the bike and just kept it on track right in front of the grass. I had very bad brake fade and instead of using two fingers I had to use my whole hand so that my hand wouldn't get in the way and ended up pulling the lever right to the bar. Once that started to happen I knew I wasn't going to catch anyone and I just wanted to finish in one piece. I will have that problem fixed before next round. For the first time ever I had a bit of arm pump at the end of the race. Ended up with a 4th which was very dissapointing. At the end of the day when loading up, one of my tie downs managed to come loose and the bike fell over on the trailer which was a crappy end to an unimpressive day.

The pit bike was....ummm....interesting. It was fun, minus the brownie right in the face. During the celebratory parade lap I was hanging out at the back so that I could see the sheer size of the group and it was really nice to see going through a turn just how many bikes there were out there. Good weather for racing (minus the Sunday practice) and glad nobody was really hurt during any of the crashes.

The videos will be up hopefully before the end of the week. There should be some good footage of the race between a couple of the cameras I know were out there.

Just posted video of BOTT LW qualifier in the other thread. Will put a blog post up shortly. Fun weekend for me and I gained a lot of useful experience (including riding in the rain) but results were disappointing due mostly to mechanical issues and I had a little lowside in practice.
