so someone tried to steal my bike last night...

And the market value is base on what ground??Craiglist/kijiji????

It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from or which God you believe in...if you are motorcyclists, You are my Brother.

That's nice.

yes im pretty sure i can change out the switch for less than 500$. anyone have a spare switch they want to sell?? :D

This is sickening, I have a 2002 gsxr ignition switch but no key, I'm not sure if you can use it

I went through a stolen vehicle claim with insurance a few years ago. They use Autotrader to determine the value for your make, model, mileage and year and as close to the trim/options of your vehicle. I went through State Farm and from my one experience they didn't lowball me and surprisingly the payout includes sales tax as well. They tried to do everything possible to make me whole.

Dumbass thief probably thought it was a GSX-R.

Thieves of this type aren't known for their high IQ's so I'm going to say you're correct.

Sorry to hear about your incident. I am a fellow GS500F owner as well.

Look like your best bet is to just replace the lock assembly and just carry two keys.

OEM parts for this will not be cheap. You should try searching/posting on GSTwin forum, Kijiji/Criagslist, and eBay of course.

Goodluck and hope you resolve this quick before season ends :)

Here are some eBay's listing I found for you:
1) $133.02 Ship from USA
2 $72.49 Ship from USA + Other Fees

You can probably install them yourself or someone on here can help on that I think.

So it was just your bike? I'm just asking but do you have any condo neighbors that you've had problems with? Is your bike loud? Maybe someone didn't have the intention to steal it, but rather getting some sort of personal vindication out of F'ing up your ignition switch?

If any of you in the Mississauga area have been to West 50 you may have noticed that building has a 'cage' for the bicycles to park in. Its a little portion that's fenced off and locked, I don't know why all condos don't adopt something similar and put proper u-bolts in the ground to lock your bike.

Seems a little too labor-intensive. If they wanted revenge they would just key the tanks, slash the tires or push the bike down.

One Sunday morning I walked to my bike only to find this... prolly done by some drunk who was ****** that he couldn't park the previous night. My bike was mostly spared - the drunk doucher just smacked both my mirrors with something.

So all the bikes at that condo are in one place? Eff the minivan, thieves be showing up in a semi.
But yeah. An area that is close to an elevator /many eyes and has anchoring points for a lock. Sell each spot for $10k.
