snow blowers

I've had a old gas powered single stage - did the job half decent
Then had a single stage electric - great for what it was, but plastic all over.

Now I have a 8hp- two stage, 27" cut - Works great! Electric start and drain on the carb bowl. With a little light.

I love the two stage machine, its a basic two stage, the light makes the cars aware where I am.

If you have not bought one already just get a two stage, the problem with the single is they work awesome at plain snow, even wet snow if not too much, but the moment you get a snow plow mound your at it for hours....or end up breaking out the snovel.

You can find decent used ones on kijiji for 200 bucks easy, IMHO the older the better....new ones suck.

does anybody know a good garden / power equipment shop in etobicoke? My primer cable broke and so far I've been to princess auto / home depot with no luck.

V8 turbodiesel, 6ft auger, not available at home depot.......

Lots of variables to consider. How big is the driveway, how much snow do you typically get (Eg Barrie vs Downtown Toronto) do you have room to throw the snow any distance (you don't want to pi$$ off the neighbors), do the plows dump a mountain of snow at the bottom of your driveway? If you have any amount of snow to move and the room to throw it, go 2 stage.

F.W.I.W. I used to live in Barrie and have a 18yr old Craftsman 10.5hp 29" 2 stage snow thrower.
Nothing done to it but oil and sparkplug changes and it still runs like a champ.

If nothing else, don't pass on electric start!
