Small SUVs who has them and opinions

I have a CX7 and I’m 230lbs. Fits me great, will drive it till it dies, 280,000km and zero issues over that time. Pulls my 5x8 trailer and two sleds/bikes just fine.
Family has CX3, two CX5’s, and had a CX9. No issues with any of them. Would recommend all of them.
Wife had a 2017 CRV and it was excellent. Great mileage, would pull a small trailer just fine. She’s now in a new Odyssey and would never go back but that’s a lot more vehicle than you may need (I will say I adore the Ody as well).

Have a 2018 Forester and tow a small pop up trailer. Excellent visibility, can accommodate large and small drivers, passengers.

Decent fuel economy with full time awd. Actually had two and both impressed.

Mid trim spec and based power plant. Not the turbo but, if you can get it, why not. The only issue I believe they require mid to high grade fuel. Think you can still put regular in but, zaps the performance.

Doors open wide and seat height is excellent for those with limited mobility etc.

We also have a base Nissan Rogue 2018. Decent highway mileage and lots of cargo room. Feels and drives bigger than it is.

Has a better infotainment system than the Subie but, it’s usually parked as the keys for the Forester are grabbed first.

Had a similar situation, looked at everything and settled on a CX5 Mazda. Reasonable price, loaded out the door for 45k. Passenger door is very light, opens wide and very friendly for his entrance and exit. Mom is 5'1, she finds it easy too, much easier than gettinto a car.

Rav4, CR-V or Forrester will do you well. All will hold a normal sized man (250 and 6'2 is normal). But avoid recently used right now if you can find a new one. Pre-owned are priced more than new (if you have the time to wait for your new order to come in that is.)

That's so cruel to have a cut off point at 250#, you could at least do 255 and I would feel "normal" too. Now with all the beer and meat in the fridge waiting for Saturday, my weekend is ruined.

I’m driving a Bronco Sport right now , great space inside and decent mileage . I did opt for the larger engine but tow is still 2k ( it’s a short wheelbase thing) . Only been 4mths now , but content

My moms civic is only getting 9.4/100. So gutless. My ranger gets better. it’s getting all the brakes the first tuneup ever next week. For new the Corolla Cross is roomy and 2 L 170 hp should be good on gas. Tows about 2000. No more 2700# scrap runs with the trailer I guess. Pisses me off the base awd only comes with light interior. $2000 extra for dark

And the light cloth in the Cross is crappy too not just lighter. The 2k is worth it for the other things you get...but if you're looking to keep the price down I agree the interior is shite. Having said that you will wait longer for the L AWD than you will for the LE AWD.

9.4? Does she floor it everywhere?
My wife drives her Civic Si like a race car and averages around 6.0/100, but if I’m driving and just cruising it’s under 5.

No she was typical little old lady putting around. 120k with original plugs and very rusty front rear brakes. Tuneup coming.

The car the Si replaced was an ‘09 Civic with around 300,000kms. We never touched the plugs or wires and I think we were averaging around 7-ish/100. It just kept going and going.
I still say your mom is doing some fast & furious shenanigans to get that bad of fuel mileage!!

A friend of mine had an early 2000's Civic that crossed 500,000 kms.

His current 2007 Acura TL is well over 400 000 kms.

As far as I know. No major issues or repairs.

I had a 2000 accord to 500k then sold it. 2 ef civics to 500k but did replace transmissions clutches towing a loaded 4x8 trailer all the time. Lots of people bitching on cvt transmission and bad mpg in the states. The auto cvt and cheaper gas seem to be a bad combo.

I will be looking at the KIA Seltos today. $32k out the door for EX model. Need to see how big it is inside. Class 3 hitch from dealer.

We have 3 late model Honda CRVs in the local extended family..... our matriarch just passed last month. They were all used from time to time to transport her in the front seat and her walker in the luggage area with room for two more people.

Partner and I prefer the higher seat position for getting in and out as our knees age.
Mom was 95 and could slide in the passenger seat from the walker easily with just an arm on her elbow for stability.

Highly recommended for your use.

Heather and I sat in the Subaru crosstrek crazy amount of room. Not a bad price. Little low on power. Toyota RAV4 not as roomy. 2017 Honda CR-V base model. Nice roomy, low tailgate, passenger doors open almost 90 %. pricey but $36k out the door with 3 yr. 60 k warranty from dealer.
