Skateboard shoes for regular people

I've grown up in skate shoes, still wear them when I'm not at work.

Nothing like a good pair of skate shoes, slip on/off, built to last and you can everything in them.

I'll never stop, to me casual shoes = skate shoes.

They're light, comfortable, easy to slip on and slip off, winners in my books. Bonus points for cheap. I wear them daily, usually something in black.

This is fantastic. Totally chuffed about the footwear situation going forward. Even saw some nice boot style. Very classy if I may be so bold. Just need a pair of sunglasses to sneak into mall skate shop 'cause I ain't going to Royal D that's for damn sure. Thanx everybody.

Lol, no one's gonna judge. Most of the West 49 guys at Vaughan Mills are old(er).

I have a pair of Es shoes (not made anymore :() that I've had for almost 5 years. They're grimy, half the sole is gone, I can't undo the checkerboard lace job but DAMN they're comfy. Just like slippers

Royal is usually considerably cheaper for them unless west 49 has sales on.

Ya, maybe I just need to grow a pair. Square my shoulders to the door and enter guns a blazing, figuratively speaking. If I get any guff I'll just pin it on my buds at GTAM. Done.

I'm manly to the point that if I ever cried my tears would be pure testosterone. Skater shoes? Good grip for standup action with the ladies if you know what I mean.

Like the man said, go with neutral colours and it's pretty hard to go wrong.

Don' worry so much!

how's a skate shoe really any different to sneakers...other than branding? When I was a kid.....

Advertising blurbs online read like the shoes are built to a higher standard than casual shoes due to the intended use. There are some that look more subdued and inline with my classic style of dress (jeans and T shirt) Sneakers look to much like F1 cars. I'm really liking the DVS Militia Snow.

Just remember some brands will fit you and others won't. Best thing you can do is go to a store and try on a bunch. I LOVE DC shoes cause they're wider and give my big feet some room. Etnies and my feet don't get along.

Ain't that the truth. I wouldn't buy any clothes/shoes online unless familiar with the company eg Eddie Bauer. If I recall, don't DC shoes have oversize logo? That would never do:p

Have a half a dozen or so pairs of skate shoes. Use to always use Vans but the quality went down the tubes when they closed their plant in Van Nuys and went offshore, plus the soles are synthetic now (used to be rubber). I've had good luck with Loteks lately. I'm using the Shreddies now (Eddie Cleveland signature series). They're not cheap, but the shoes are fantastic. I never wear them out walking around, though. Empty kms.

FullMotoJacket, nice shoe. Are you buying local? 3 dealers come up within 25km search. Any recommendations?

I bought mine at a bike shop in Milton I deal with (not Mill Town). Not much stock there but they order in whatever I want. Try The Compound on Rymal first.

Sweet. And they might even have the skate board wheels that started this downward spiral resulting in Sonnyboy loosing his lunch(you had to be there, pm me for details lol).

Right;)

Gist of thread is accidental discovery of better shoe. Not previously on radar. Will 54yr. old man wearing skater shoes look gay without knowing it? Is ignorance bliss?

At 54 you should no longer give a ***** what others think. I found some Adidas low cuts on a huge discount and wore them out. The hightops with the same model name, I bought a couple of years later, weren't nearly as good. I think I got mine at the Barrie outlet mall.

I guess I could start by not giving a ***** what you think. Jokes. What's the cut off age for not giving a ***** what others think? Because I think I've seen people of all ages acting like they no longer give a ***** what others think. It never looks good. But I agree with you.
