Side by side riding???

I guess if you can do this, TO cops, you're ok side by side?

If someone can embed that would be great

Honestly though, how many riders, cruiser or sport, do you think can do that successfully EVERYTIME? I've never seend any attempt turns like that exept on the race track where there is no traffic. I still think its a stupid idea to ride side by side. Everyone says, ride safe, ride like your invisible! but what happens if you need to make a manuever because car in front of you is slamming on the brakes, your in the left side of the lane and your buddy DIRECTLY BESIDE YOU in the lane either doesn't see what happens, doesn't know how to react, or reacts too late? Your in the back of that car because you put yourself in a position with no way out.
I say don't do it. The Fallen Riders thread is getting way too full in my opinion.

On the weekend, I saw 2 cruisers riding side by side touch one another at least 3 times in front of me. I kept way back in case one of their love taps caused a fall.

I used to do that....20 years ago ....when I rode with a friend that I rode with a lot. These days, I don't. Staggered is just a lot safer.

Yep, and no need to wear any gear and only the most basic and barely legal brain bucket. Great examples they set eh?

Makes all their propaganda about "speed kills" ring even more hollow.

Great point and completely valid. However.... it is the government and they change s l o w l y - but the OPP will be changing - right after a large enough committee can make agreed upon recommendations. Some considerations they have to make in setting a new standard for themselves are not things we as riders have to consider.

All it would take is the OPPA members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee to complain about the lack of safe equipment. Then it would change overnight. But, that would require to coppers to want to change things, and they don't. They like the image. At least York Regional wear leather jackets.

You may have seen me and my wife. We ride side by side all the time.
I will only do this with somebody I know and trust. I also have to know how the person rides. and I have to know what is on their mind all the time.
I ride side by side with a select few.

Oh. OP. where did you see this happen. I really want to know if it was me and my wife.
We were on the 401 from Allen to 410 north to Steels.

I was under the impression it was illegal. What's the difference between that and lane splitting?

Because a cop does it doesn't make it legal. I'm sure the books are full of "When necessitated by duty" clauses.

Back when I started riding. This was THE ONLY way you rode with a friend. Staggered was only for gorups of 4 or more.

Ilegal??? NOPE.

I love riding beside my wife.

I ride with only people I know and feel comfortable riding with. We don't use hand or turn signals, and we ride side by side and at times really close together. Were comfortable doing that and never have a problem. I wouldn't ride with anyone I don't know like this however, and you dont just roll up beside people you dont know. If you dont want to ride like that then dont, pretty simple. If someone intrudes on your comfort zone, then pull back or take off....

I tend to ride close. But then I keep watch over whats going on around me and them. And I constantly assume they are going to suddenly move in a way I dont expect. I dont do this with everyone... only people I trust. But like I said I assume they are going to move unexpectedly.

What if the other rider has Full Body Tourette's syndrome?
