Shoei to Arai

...Arai Corsair V but heard its really noisey due to all the ventilation...

Bingo! Nothing any manufacturer can do about that. Ventilation = holes in the shell.

Also, note that the "race" helmets (vs "street" helmets) are meant to be in the tuck position to maximize aerodynamics and ventilation so your bike/riding position might have something to do with noise.

I have 3 helmets, a Shoei RF1100, an Arai XD3 and a Schuberth C3 Pro. They all fit very well and are comfortable, though the Schuberth is the best hands down. Better material makes it more comfortable for the long hauls, plus the built in audio is pretty sweet. The schuberth is the quietest helmet I have, but its no way dead silent, just better then the shoei and of course the arai which is not supposed to be a quiet helmet.

My next lid is the SR1. I've tried it on and the liner feels amazing...and ALMOST as light as my XR1R Carbon. I just wished they had the SRC system for this helmet as well, but that would defeat the point of it being a race helmet.

Schuberth def makes some top notch lids.

Currently have a Shoei RF-1000 thats about 4-5 years old. Im thinking of getting into an Arai Corsair V but heard its really noisey due to all the ventilation it has and that its not really comparable to my Shoei since its not an X-11 or X-12. Anyone ever done the switch from a shoei to an arai?? I currently use my bike to commute is about 30mins from toronto to etobicoke and its mainly highway...I will go on longer rides but dont want to be irratated by whistling and wind noises.
I went from RF1000 to shark, loved hte shark, crashed and the shark went by by, decided to go with the Arai, in comparison, the Arai is as noisy as the rf1000 with the visor open only, once oyu close the visor i have no problems whatsoever with the arai at all. The ventilation is great, same as shoei, the Arai is a lot more confortable and also if you use a comm system like a scala the Arai has spots for the headphones which the RF1000 didn't at all.

So unless you are planning to be riding around with the visor open, the Arai is a lot better than the Shoei RF1000 in my opinion

I got the Arai because it was a good deal, I wish I had got the same Shark I had
