She's gone... you have to let her go.

Ouch,

Glad to see you in good health and spirits after what looks to be a serious impact.

You may have just created a new model. Ducati Monster SWB "Short Wheel Base"
Great for congested parking lots and small garages!

Obviously forks way stronger than the frame. Not that it really matters, but I find the way the frame tubes fractured to be a bit odd, I would have expected the frame to bend, not break in the manner it did. There should be a lot of good parts on that bike for whoever parts it out.

‘Previous owner dropped it’

glad you’re still walking and able to take these pics after a hard hit. Couldn’t have been too light as the frame snapped like that.

I had wondered afterwards if I got to the brakes or not (I had zero time). If you look at the zip tie on the fork in pic one, it is bottomed out.
I apparently had full engagement of the brakes. That would add significant strength to the forks.

But yes, it was a pretty good impact.

Frame to bend where? A truss does not like to bend.

I think soulcatcher is correct. Big USD forks fully compressed are a hell of a lot stronger than conventional forks.

Glad you're well enough to at least be able to post about it here and such.

Remember, you don't need to accept the first offer from the insurance company on the write off value. There's a good chance they'll lowball you. Be willing and prepared to say "Nope!" if it happens and start the negotiation. There is a process, and until you feel you're getting a fair shake, don't accept it.

Cross-post in the reasonably priced motorcycle for sale thread... Profit..!
that thing is far too new and in good condition to qualify for the reasonably priced thread.

Good to go!

Dam, and your bike looks brand new as well. How is the injury otherwise, how long before you could get back on the bike, and any thoughts of what you will replace it with?
I was lucky, pretty badly broken wrist, bumps and bruises everywhere, but lucky.

8 weeks min if they don't have to do surgery, I find out tomorrow.

Ducati Supersport is the front runner. I have been eyeing them for some time.
